Default VIS Carbon Fiber Hood

I recently replaced my hood with the VIS CF because of a hit & run. I bought it off of ebay for $585 shipped. When my body shop received it everyone was impressed with the quality of it. The fit is superb, no modifications required. The hood fits like stock & utilized the oem hood latch, no cheapo snap at 60mph integrated latches. It comes pre-drilled for windshield nozzles as well. The scoop comes with a ghetto fab mesh in it which was easily removeable. The oem intercooler shroud bolts right into place with the hood. The weather stripping that runs along the front edge of the hood does not bolt on though. I simply used some 3M adhesive to glue the strip in place. No problems yet.

Upon close inspection, the hood does suffer from some "wavyness". When looked at from a close angle in the shade you can see imperfections in the hood as all surfaces are not smooth. I've been told this is normal with CF parts, it is not excessive but I still wish it was not there. Can anyone confirm this? Maybe the Seibon owners want to chime in...

This is my only complaint of the hood. The edges on the hood are smooth, the weave pattern is excellent, and the resin bubbles in the hood are very minor.

I was looking for one of these and my only question was the underhood IC guide and you cleared that up.

Thanks!

Looks awesome!

i have the v2 cf vis hood. Looks like your hood may have be slightly damaged in transit. I'm basing this on the pic you have of the left side middle part of your hood. My hood doesn't have that but then again I don't have the same type of hood either???

I'm trying to decide between a VIS or Siebon hood. I assume that price was without shipping charges. What vendor on ebay did you get it from?

I got mine cheap from TRT Auto Tech in Bayside, Queens. You can save on shipping if you'll take the trip down here to NYC?

Ask for Bryant

Tell him Chris w/the blk wrx sent you.

I know that you can call VIS to order the hood and i think Siebon do that too. If not, just as Siebon for a list of dealer and you can call them. Both Company are in socal.

I have just one question. How heavy is that thing? I'm pretty sure the stock hood is aluminum, and I know its pretty light.

the aluminum hood and the cf hood is pretty similar in weight. Any differences IMO won't really make a differnce.

I have a VIS on my 02...paid 3 or 2 hundred for it, cant remember. Worth the money. I had a nice dent in my OEM so this was cheaper and I shaved off about 2pounds..whoa!
