Silkolene and Elf. Goodspeed carries the Elf.

Oops... Old info... Goodspeed no longer carries the Elf in jugs, but rather Motul and Total (same as Elf).

Holy Elf collection, Batman! Me wants! Is the Elf you have better than the new Total stuff?

(Redline 10w40 or Rotella T 5w40 here)

When you say coming back home, do you mean from Afghanistan?

No I leave for the Stan in about 2 1/2 weeks. Going to drop the car off and have Goodspeed rip it apart and install new engine, headers, Borg Warner turbo while Im gone. Just wanted to come home before I go, its been to long since I saw my beloved Valley of the Sun.

Unfortunately I have no idea if the formulation has changed from when I purchased my cases from Joe. Elf and Total both come from the same production "line"; they are just packaged and marketed differently is my understanding. Joe may have more to add.

I love their tranny lube... oh that sounds so dirty. Expensive and not always easy to get, but worth the money and price imho.

Supposedly elf is now marketing their 'elf excellium' oil in the US as Total quartz 9000, they're supposed to be the exact same oil. Apparently the elf name is no longer being used in the US.

How do you like the 5w-40? I really want to try it but the $8/qt. price isn't appealing. I hear it's a quality product though. I wonder if it's group IV base stock?

I like it... in as much as I have no reason to not like it. Analysis' have always come back with good results. Kind of expensive, yes, but I like it enough that the cost won't stop me from buying it again when I run out. I horde my stash for the STi; the MS3 has to suffer on "normal" synthetic oil.

It is the clearest oil I think I've ever seen. I spilt 35+ dollars of it on irascible's driveway once; took us a few moments to realize it was oil pouring out of the engine.
