Default KSport Rally Spec GR Damper System

So I am looking at these http://www.ksportusa.com/asp/coilove...roduct_id=cd03. I am wondering from the people who have run these coilovers specifically not just the 08s though, what they think? I have seen the reviews for the other KSport coils but wondering about the rally spec coilovers. I live in an area that these would help with DD and gravel road out by the lake area. I can not go back to stock because my stock struts blew and subaru refused to cover with warrenty so that is not an option. Thanks

pretty much junk, especially for a DD. The set i have in my garage is ridiculously rusty for having only 3 months of driving on them. The previous owner said they started clunking within two weeks. The upper mount spherical bearings are crap - when i needed to use them it took me quite some time to get them freed up. The bearing carriers are very rusty. The adjusters are a pain to get to and froze up in a hurry.

etc...

Were you the person who posted pics on some other thread? If so did I read right that yours were not the rally spec? If they were thanks for the input, if not I am looking for rally spec specific because they will be different then the street/track spec. Thanks though

I know spring/strut combo is the best for rally style at lower entry price but I have yet to see a spring/strut combo that fits the 08wrx

No, i wasn't.

The coilovers i have are inverted gravel spec ksports for the GD chassis. I would assume the build quality of my set is probably typical of most (if not all) ksport products.

EDIT: by the way, i hadnt noticed that you are asking about '08 stuff in my first post.

A company like KSport doesn't make one product better than another. While their gravel spec dampers may have some different features they still use the same [low] quality materials, and are assembled in the same plant by the same workers to the same low quality standards. Don't kid yourself into believing that one of their products is any better just because of the intended purpose or the included features. The problems people have with their normal cheap stuff is almost guaranteed to carry over to their "nicer" stuff.

I would save yourself the headache and look for something of higher quality. Its probably going to cost more, but at least then you might find something worth spending your money on.

I agree I should get something better but I don not see anything on the market for my car that will work. I am starting to look into getting some Koni and some spring and modifying them to work. If someone else knows of a coilover or strut setup that will work please let me know. I dont like my megans and want to get something better just looking for what is available.

Gravel road and Rally == no.

Sniper posted up in this thread - search on his other threads, and check out what he did. It was REALLY trick. I'm hoping he can start building them soon as they would go like hotcakes.

'09 WRX OEM Struts. Not sure how much they cost, but that would be a great option. Also, I beleive 08-09 STi struts may work also, but that would probably cost a lot more.

Maybe you should try getting your stockers warrantied through another dealer (if you have one available in your area). Sometimes one dealer may do things another would not. Unless you put your struts through unreasonable use/mileage and if they are suppost be covered by warranty they should be replaced. I would contact SOA if the dealers still refuse, could not hurt.

I had a similar situation when my Nissan dealer would not lemon law my sentra ser spec v. I contacted Nissan USA, the BBB, and the FL Atty General about my issues. Then I had my sister/attorney send a demand letter to Nissan USA. About a week later after Nissan USA got all my info an arbitration was set up with the BBB for a few weeks later. Then, about another week later I guess Nissan USA reviewed all my info, realized I had all my ducks in a row, and called me personally to cancel the arbitration and declared my car a lemon.

I contacted SOA they said more of less go **** myself. I started to get a lawyer and everything but lost lots of work then so I could not afford all of it. I had all the paperwork and everything. I have looked into the 09 but not sure where to get them.

Well you really don't need a lawyer to do it. Basically, you just need to contact the BBB. Most likely they will tell you to write a demand letter which outlines your warranty claim, your costs, repair work, what your are demanding (I would google demand letter if you never written one). I did most of the work myself for my lemon claim. The only reason I got my sister/attorney to send the demand letter was so it looked more official. If the BBB thinks your claim is valid they will fight for you and set up an arbitration. Most likely SOA will just give you what you want after that, b/c a few struts is not worth it to SOA to spend on attorney fees.

Most of this could be done fairly easily and it did not really take too much time or effort when I did it. But, then again I just finished law school (now studying for the FL Bar)...so maybe it just seems pretty easy to me and not to someone w/o a legal background.

Also, the only way to get '09 struts would be through the dealer.

Or look up Millennium Auto and see if a wrecked '09 WRX has come into their shop/salvage yard yet. I was up there a couple weeks ago and they already had a couple of '08/'09 STi's that had been totaled.

^ Just make sure they're not bent...you don't want to deal with the hassle of that.
