is there a process you go through to get Rhett in shape? I would love to get my dog out riding, but i'm not sure how well she'll keep up or how much she'll get sidetracked.

Basic "dog psychology".
They are pack animals and eager to please. Positive reinforcement is key.
Rhett is a rescue and new to me. 1st he developed a place in our family with me being the alpha. He wasn't taken to the trails until I felt confident he would follow (worked with him on a leash, getting better at "heeling"). He is walked and jogged daily. I go for hikes about 2-3 times a week and ride my bike 3-5 times weekly so there are plenty of chances for him to build up his endurance.
Did small loops on the trails in the morning when no one was out so he wouldn't be distracted.
Today was his longest "ride", about 8-9 miles.

He's still not to the point where I will unleash him with people/animals around.

Biking with a dog is one of the most funnest things, def worth getting your dog out.

My dog can handle riding Galbraith top to bottom twice in a row... Considering that she constantly runs ahead and comes back she's probably covering 15+ miles.

Start slow, dogs hide pain and discomfort. Your dogs paws may peel the top layer on their first long run and their paws will be sensitive for a couple days.. Think of it as a popped blister.

We pulled down thistles for a work party last night. One of the LBS brought out chili for a post-work party meal.
Headed out now for a ride on the newest trail system. I'll post pics later.

Got out to Tiger Mountain for the first time today and boy that was a blast. I can't believe I've been living in Snoqualmie for 7 years (riding for 4) and have never been there. It was really really fun. I'm so used to the buffed out trails of Duthie that it was a treat to be on something more raw. I really enjoyed the rocks and roots of the Preston trail. Looking forward to hitting that a few times this summer.

Tiger is super good. The climb is a real bear, but that downhill is a lot of fun. There's a new trail being built up on Tiger right now but I don't know when it's supposed to be completed.

Did a 20 mile ride on my squishy 2000' off climb on Saturday. Fish hook flats in eburg. Not bad for an out of shape dirt jumper.

Can you shuttle any of the trails at Tiger? Or do you just ride up?

(My elbow still fxxked up from getting dislocated by a skier, but I have not lost hope yet.)

can't shuttle the Preston trail that I know of. There's a forest road, but its only for the radio towers I presume since its always gated. I guess people can ride up to the top. I ended up pushing most of the way.

Anyone do any organized racing? I kinda want to do the Capitol Forest Enduro in september.

Default tiger

So eventually they are talking about keeping Tiger open for more if not all of the year. That is pretty exciting...

Normally it is only a summer ride.

I also can't wait for the new two sections to open up.

Any news from anyone on that?
http://evergreenmtb.org/wiki/index.p...itMapPlan.jpeg

new sections in red... There is also a lower XC trail they are working on to connect the bottom of preston to timber, which would really put it all together.

Still a climb up though, not bad though... I have ridden it up, then down, but usually I just ride the fire road up with all my plastic skin and helmet slung on my back, then suit up for the down trip.

Did a quick 3 mile ride this morning with the dog. His pace was faster.
We just need to keep working on his slow twitch fibers.

Trails here are really dry and dusty.
Building is a bit different out here since we are working within a conservency and have to make the least amount impact on the environment.
No water source, no rain, rocky, and sensitive terrain. Worst of all, no shade.
You westside guys have it made.
Anyhoo, here is a pick of the newest trail, not yet "open" or finished.

Also, the Tieton Bike Park has been progressing.
I'll be going out on Sunday. See more here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tieto...76202049110361

I was trying to ride WP this morning. But at around 5000' there was a bit of snow and everything was pretty wet/muddy.
Still had a good time with good views though.

1st view of Rainier.

Another view of Rainier.

Rhett and I found some common ground. Turns out we both loooove the snow.

After the descent we rested and walked around. Met this cool dude riding his bike.

This guy flew up to Vancouver, BC with his bike and his riding all the way back to San Diego, CA. Packs everything with him and camps in sites or off the side of the road.

Default Ride this weekend?

So who's riding this weekend up in Bham? I'm pretty new to the area and would love to get out and meet some new people, ride some new trails, and maybe (definitely) have a few beers. I figure if you like subarus and mtn bikes and beer than you must obviously be an awesome person with very good taste, so I'd love to meet you If any of the above sounds fun let me know!

Also wondering if anybody would be interested in some weekend day trips up to Whistler?

Also also wondering if any locals want to help me put on all my cool new parts some time soon? Got pretty much everything for a stage 3 build just chillin at my house, staring at me, beckoning...

Heading down to the Capital Forest Super D event tonight, havent been on the bike in 3 weeks due to working late at work, and the side business, but I'm super excited.

Probably hitting duthie tomorrow afternoon mostly XC trails. PM me if you'll be out there, I need to meet more people who get out and ride here locally, I've only got 1 person who is down to ride most times, and hes doing a home refurbish right now, so hes swamped.

Also, Anyone out in Moses lake riding? I'll be there 50% of my summer due to this project.

I ride out at duthie quite a bit. I don't ride the big freeride lines yet, but hoping to start working on them this summer. I usually get out there for a spin after work. Its on my way home from redmond to snoqualmie. I've been trying to incorporate the XC trails more this year, but that voodoo child line is super fun for the level that i'm riding at.

i have a feeling that this year with how busy work is and is going to be, i may not get in as much weekday riding.

That's been my problem too Joel. Work had me there til 315 today, I left Redmond at 330 for capital Forrest super D only to just barely reach Renton just now. GPS was showing arrival down there at 7, which doesn't work when the sign-ups stop at 630...

Instead.

Beer time!

I'm starting to enjoy XC trails more and more now.
Rode 3 this week, just finished a 12 mile evening ride.
I totally need it because I'm waaay over weight and out of shape.
I really want to go in stronger when snow season hits.

Jojo, Voodoo Child is legit!

I finally got back out to Duthie this week after a 3 month hiatus...did 6.5 miles on Sunday and 8.5 miles on Wednesday.

Oh and I attempted Gravy Train on Wed and actually hit most of the first half jumps on my second run down. Was stoked on that. Can't wait to get back on that run.

Was supposed to hit Whistler today but the forecast was for a lot of rain and that's no fun. I have logged five days up there already..aiming for 12ish.

Picked up an Easton Havoc handlebar for my AM rig, bumping up from 685mm to 750, should be awesome
