Unhappy power window no worky

08 impreza 2.5i

today i ripped apart the interior and doors to run audio cable to the trunk, and installed 6.5" speakers in the doors.

started the car up and the windows worked fine, drove to the store and shut the car off. after starting the car back up the passenger side window will go down but not up with the driver switch, then the driver switch does nothing at all. so, i reach over to the passenger switch and it will not go up, but slowly goes down. now my front passenger window is stuck all the way down.

i could not find any fuse labeled for windows so i used a tester on ONLY the mini ones and none were blown. i ripped off the door and examined the wires and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

any ideas?!

I only noticed this in the cold weater. New Years it got stuck down at -12*. my friend pulled it up. next day i took the door panel off and lubed everything and adjusted the motor around and it works greatt. the lube i used is JiggaLoo works greatt.

made an appointment for tomorrow morning, but still trying to fix this myself.

i did more detective work with the multimeter and isolated the problem to a single wire.

the power window switch harness is set up like this:

12.12.00.00.GG
__.__.__.__.__

the two "12" above read 12 volts on a working window and i am guess are the two sources of power for the forward and reverse direction

the two "00" represent the wires going from the switch to the power window motor

the "GG" represents the ground

currently, the window is ONLY going up, but not down.

the multimeter shows no voltage to the LEFTMOST "12" above.

i traced this red wire through the door to a harness near the front passengers foot. i can verify that on the other side of the harness no power is coming through this wire and thus the wiring in the door itself is not faulty.

SO

where does this wire harness go from the front seat of the foot well? i can't trace the wire any further up without removing the dash, though i can see it going up above the glove box when i open it.

what could cause a loss of power to this single wire? though i ripped apart my interior, i did not remove the dash. could the problem be in the engine bay?

did you tap in to your existing speaker wires or run your own? if you ran your own did you run them through the existing factory boot? if so you may check the wiring inside the boot to see if there are exposed wires. also follow the wires from the motor up to the switch to see if there is anythign exposed.
