Default Is it my Wheel Bearing? & Will a hub from an 06 fit an 02?

Ok, So I think my Wheel bearing is shot on the drivers side front (02 WRX Wagon). There is noticeable road noise (grumble) when ever the car is moving and there is a scrapping sound intermittently. I did the test where you jack up the car and check the play of the tire and there was next to none. This seems odd since all other signs point towards the wheel bearing. If I rotate the tire as if the car were moving (only moves an inch or so) I can hear the scraping sound that I mentioned above. I am looking for some confirmation that this is probaby the wheel bearing like I think it is.

My second question is if it is a wheel bearing will the hub/knuckle assembly from an 06 WRX fit on my 02? A buddy of mine did an sti wheel/brake swap and has his low mileage stuff sitting around. I figure this would take out a bunch of the headache of doing the repair myself.

Thanks for the help and if anything isn't clear just ask.
