Default Hood scoop paint.

Hey, im thinkin of gettin an STI hoodscoop for my 05 wrx, but the paint shop says its gonna be a "polka dot" and isnt gonna match the hood perfect due to color fade. I already kinda knew this, but im curious if anyone else has upgraded their hoodscoop (or any other part that requires painting) and how well did it match. Could you really tell it was painted later than the rest of the car? thanks.

Well anytime you paint any part on your car, if the paint isnt 100% subaru genuine paint, its not going to match 1000%. For instance. I bought JBP sti splitters and fog covers. I ended up sanding them down and rattle can painted them Silver to match my car. The color match is a 8/10. The rattle can is a little bit more sparkly than the stock but all in all it looks great. What paint is your car?

And to be honest, if you paint it, it will probably turn out great. Just take the time to prep it properly, give it 2-4 coats of paint, and give it 2-3 clear coats. everything should turn out awesome. If you would like pictures of my splitters and fog covers, just lemme know I can snag some for ya when I get off work.

Hope I was able to help

if the shop paints it, there's a good chance it'll turn out great.

if you did it yourself with sandpaper and rattle cans, there's a good chance it'll look like ugly and off. not to attack you personally (i have no idea who you are), but it's pretty hard and time consuming to get the correct color and shine from rattle cans and clear coat.

my diy scoop looks horrible. jbp is my color.
