Ask about engine management. No good answer, skip it.

That would not hurt at all and it's fairly easy to do. As with any car, you probably should have it inspected.

Id personally rather get a stock one but i know what u mean when looking at how the cl posts are done this person has had it up for a while and i have followed it from 16.5 to now 14.5 which makes me weary but i really want an sti and at the same time i know its more important to not need another car in 2 months

The ad says it has a Cobb AP.

I tend to stay away from any modded cars. He could have babied that 350hp, or beat the piss out of it. You'll never know.

Reading comprehension FTL. I guess I'm so pro open source, the AP doesn't even register as a tune.

more important, how long has it been modded? Still 50+hp from factory isn't that much, it probably doesnt even have 350hp, that's probably just what he figures.

Really the only thing you need to worry about with an STI is the engine and maybe a cv axle. Absolute WORST case scenario, you pull the motor out and put better pistons in.

If I was buying it, I would call the guy and spend several hours talking about hte car. Then if it still seems like a good idea, let him know that you want to come look at the car and if anything seems different from what he said, you got no problem buying a ticket back home.

I would ask him EVERYTHING, the more you ask him, the more it devalues the car. Obviously he thinks it's not worth 16K or else he wouldn't have lowered his price, unless he's desperate for money, but most people list that in their ads.

IT's possible that people have come look at the car and turned it down because it wasn't as described.

It's also possible that people in CA just arent interested in buying older used cars, because it takes credit to get that kind of loan and nobody has that.

Ask him if other people have come to look at the car and why they didn't buy it.
