Default autozone mobil 1 special

I just went into Autozone today to do my usual oil change (i get 5 quarts of mobil 1 10-30, 7dollars each, and a fram filter, 5dollars.
total of 42 at the register. The assistant there said, "hey, we got a special on mobil 1 and pointed to a huge poster. just started today"
you get 5quarts and a mobil 1 filter (12dollars) for
29.99!!
save 10 dollars

I hope all autozones are doing this. but mine is at Mcdowell just east of Scottsdale road.

not sure how long this lasts...

just so ya know, the M1 has performed poorly in others' turbo Subarus, including my old one. I would also shy away from the Fram filter. If you want to stick with the 10w30 weight, use Pennzoil Platinum. It can be had pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. All this being said, it is your car and thanks for letting us know about the deal.

Fram ftl. But however, I have used it a a few times when there's some sort of an emergency like me being lazy to drive to Napa or Subaru.

Yeah, I was under the impression a filter was a filter, but after seeing a few threads where guys cut a bunch of filters in half, it was CLEAR AS HELL THE FRAM FILTERS ARE CRAP. They use paper/cardboard endcaps and have less surface area for filters as compared to higher end filters. I was not impressed.

I was also saddened to learn that the Subaru black filters have been discontinued and replaced with a new blue filter. THE NEW SUBARU BLUE FILTER IS ALSO CRAP! Unlike the old black filters which had metal endcaps and collectors, the new blue ones are paper based construction too with plastic pressure relief values. Come to find out they are MADE IN CANADA BY HONEYWELL WHO ALSO MAKES FRAM FILTERS.

If you have OEM black filters use them. The Black Tribeca filter works well too. If not, look for a higher quality filters. Small price to pay for piece of mind. Motor work is expensive as hell.

For an auto parts store good filter, also look at Puralator Pure One.

I use the Mobil 1 filters, M1-108. Been using them for 4 years on various Subies with no issue.

What are you getting at? Where's the Honda owner behavior you're talking about? I see people discussing what oil/filters to do and don't use. Yes there's always some OT in every thread, but nothing crazy. Seems like you get butt hurt in any thread where a certain tuner is mention in a negative light or the center of a few jokes. Just an observation.

Wirelessly posted (LG Voyager: Mozilla/4.1 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; ) 400x240 LGE VX10000)

I don't think it's all Mobile 1 products, but rather just certain grades appear to cause issues at a greater than standard rate. I guess the diesel oil is pretty good. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but some guys in SWIC definately know their stuff when it comes to oil. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago on the subject that was good.

Mobil1 has not been a Grade IV syn for several years, but rather a refined petroleum product- more like a semi-syn. And in addition, several years ago, almost every oil brand reduced the content of sulfur and phosphorus in the oil for emissions reasons, except that these ingredients were there for wear protection.

So basically, the only true syn Grade IV oils are brands like Amsoil, Motul, Redline, etc. And I know that Amsoil did not reduce the content of sulfur and phosphorus in their oils, not sure about Redline, Motul, etc.

Basically all that means that in a turbo engine where oil is severely stressed and under great heat and shear, your best bet is a true IV syn with great anti-wear additives. The issue some have had with M1 is breakdown, excess wear and eventually spun bearings.

Purolator Pure One have great oil and air filters sold at Pep Boys.

Amsoil oil and other products is what I use.

If I don't have access to Amsoil, I use Cheveron Dello 400 Synthetic diesel oil
