Default i hate bird poop :( :(

hey guys, i'm pretty new at this stuff and learning day by day, so take it easy on me

i just washed my car and clayed it using

i only claybarred a small portion, about a 12 in x 12 in area, on my hood just to try it out, and it's very smooth! haha

so yes it is very smooth, much smoother than the rest of my car, but i can see "remains/spots" of bird poop on the area i claybared. i guess the sun really got to it, and the chemicals in it really affected my paint.

i can't find a good way to explain it, i will try to take pictures tomorrow, but there are "spots" of the chemicals or acids from the poop in my paint.

these are a few good examples i found on google:

i was wondering if there is anything i can use to take out these marks, without ruining my paint.

thanks a lot!! --arthur

Maybe some quick detailing spray with a microfiber buffing towel?

You might have to live with some of the marks. Bird crap is very acidic; the longer it's on there the more it will burn through.

after you clay bar your car you need to wax then polish it. that may help remove that crap.

And normally I clay bar the whole car. wax then polish.

hey, this is everything that was in the kit

so i washed, then clayed, then sprayed it down and dried it with the microfiber towel

If you want a possible off-the-shelf solution, grab some Scratch-X (by Meguiars) at your local auto part retailer. I found that this product has enough cut/corrective ability to tackle many common blemishes without being overly aggressive (I order most of my stuff online but still find uses for this product for quick, spot repairs). Obviously, the effectiveness will depend on the severity of the problem. You may need to use a harsher compound/polish and/or live with the fact that you are only able to improve the appearance (if the damage is too deep). Either way, when in doubt, always choose a less aggressive method/product to start with and move down from there if necessary.

.....polish and then wax.

...btw, a QD will do nothing but perhaps help to mask the blemish if it looks like the pic posted.

Yeah no chance a QD will help. Soft Suby paint means bird bombs etch in that much easier. But if you get to it soon enough you may be able to get it out by hand. Try a paint cleaner or polish. If that won't work you will need machine polishing.

If you clayed it you need to wax it. I always keep a microfiber towel and some detail spray in my glove box so when I get bird crap on the car I can wipe it off. You don't want that stuff to sit on the paint!!

Very important, especially with a Subaru. Doesn't take long to damage the finish.

Duragloss 501 has great cleaning abilities with slight polish nature. Just another OTC option you have.
