Default tdo4 tuned to 241 whp and 323 wtq

07 wrx
APS tmic
GT Spec header and uppipe with IAG EWG (Tial 38mm)
HKS flat plate dp
Walbro

Tuned by EFI Logics.. Note the relatively flat spot in the boost curve on a td04. They use a Mustang Dyno btw, and I cant remember the elevation.

Do you think you would have seen even more torque out of this by using methanol or water injection?

I dont know what meth/water does to a power curve in regards to total power and location of the power. The Td04 will probably get replaced with another td04 before i put a bigger one on. Props to EFI for making a graph that makes nasioc like a stock turbo though haha

you forgot to add ewg into that equation too . With out that boost would've dropped faster. He was really suprised at the boost curve though.

just for comparison, i think that my header and uppipe combo is actually hurting me down low but mid range it helps a small bit. Here is a 07 stock turbo catted exhaust (im catless) and a tune. Although the peak torque is higher, and the overall hp line does look smoother on mine, not sure if thats due to day to day changes aswell. regardless im stoked in the feel of the car.

Dana,

Thanks for making the hike from Buffalo!

Your car is an animal, hope you can kill it on the AutoX. Your car is a bit lazier on the low end from the UEL Header, but it's probably nothing you will notice. When your on the AutoX, the header is typically up to temp from hard driving, and boost response should be spot on. The only way around this is to get an EL Header or ported stock manifolds from Grimmspeed.. To add to the equation, you also have the big APS TMIC, which would make things slightly laggier.

Hope you enjoy it, if you have any questions, shoot us a PM.

That all depends on the tune. Just hooking meth up doesnt do much unless you tune for it (more boost/timing).

yes, yes, I know that.. Just curious as to whether there was more in the tuning side of things with a methanol or water injection setup. I guess that would be more a question for the tuner to answer.. I'd be curious to know.

Or perhaps the turbo is just tapped out at that level and won't do any more than it has already, regardless of detonation resistance of the fuel utilized.

Ah that familiar flop on your face at 5k of the tdo4 haha.

Mine looks like that too on the road dyno chart I used, 225/245 here with intake, grimmspeed bcs, tbe and protune.

Maybe look into a bcs, that MIGHT help some, but great numbers. Im wanting to do exactly what you did, header and ewg.

i have a grimmspeed bcs. I think people have pushed the td04 up to 22 psi and that is peaking the efficiency out of the turbo from what I understand. That might be where the meth comes in. Id like to see what this setup does on course, I dont think 22 psi would be very tame. As it is 323 ftlbs makes a hell of a doughnut.

Ah, didnt see it in your mod list. Well the numbers look very promising, would be a fun short track car with all that crazy lowend power.

I wonder what I would have done with 20+ psi of boost? I am suspecting these to be real good numbers for the amount of boost and the dyno, but if the turbo could have put up a couple more psi in the mid would it have been worth it?

BTW, I really like the numbers that evo 3 16gs are putting down.. I think that is my next turbo

225 awhp, 265 awtq in 103 degree texas heat. Car pulls good, hp curve is completely flat, though tq of course drops off. Only mods are dowpipe and tune. Future plans are EL header, ewg, catback, ebcs, meth and possibly e85.

I do wonder what kind of monster tq numbers can be had from Subaru's small turbo family. A vf11, td04, or even td05 near 18lbs is where I'm targeting. 12lbs is already a bear on a vf11/WAIC and slips the clutch badly on E50. 1-3 aren't too shabby but the clutch slips in 4-5. I like the direction it's headed and just keep the boost turned down for now.
