Default Stupidfastwagon Tuned at MAC Autosports

Well folks I just moved to the Colorado Springs area and needed to get my wagon re-tuned for the altitude and gas. Moving from 500 ft to 6500 ft as well as going from 93 to 91 really killed my wagon. Though, I must say at 500ft my current tune did me just fine but up here... Well not so much...

I called MAC Autosports yesterday and talked to the owner, Bill, who was able to get me an appointment today. They do opensource tuning which fits my budget at the moment since we just moved to the area. Anyway Im very pleased with the work that Nick did and can say that my Wagon is once again... I am pretty happy with the power that the car is making now. Odd thing though is when I changed my MBC from the TurboXS Standard to the Hallman MBC my spool time dropped by like 300rpms :S

I think the turbo xs is a bleeder type boos controler, and the hallman is a ball and spring?

Nice numbers at altitude!

very nice, but those of us on pirates like to use e-85 which is cheap and extremely abundant in the front range area

I think spool is affected because of the alt, since the air is less dense. You should of saw it with my turboxs mbc...

Curious is that corrected or not on their dynojet? If not corrected then I am pretty impressed. If is corrected (going go guess 1.19-1.25 range) then that is about what I would expect to see on a 16G.

The numbers are corrected, but I'm going to log some time tomorrow to see where my boost is at. I think I'm only hittin 19 psi, where my target is 21.

I heard Nick @ Mac does some awesome work, right up there with Harvey @ Super Rupair in Boulder. If you're in the Springs though, why didn't you roll with Revolutions? I heard they're also really good, and it would save you the drive

I plan on trying out an OS tune at Mac. My friend got tuned by Harvey at SR, but that dyno apparently reads super low and Harvey uses a correction factor that lowers your numbers slightly, I'm told. I could be wrong, but oh well. I guess Mac's dyno is either a little more accurate or a tiny bit inflated compared to Super Rupair's.

My buddy made 252whp on Harvey's dyno, so we'll see what he makes on Nick's dyno. Appt on thurs, I'm tagging along

Well Macs and AMS dyno read the same... RP dyno reads stupid high... When I was up here house shoping I stoped by RP and had my car put on the dyno. My car made 330 hp and 307 tq... As where Macs read 300 hp and 284 tq... So I think there dyno is spot on. I have nothing against RP but I needed someone to tune OS for me and they fit the bill. RP is a nice shop and adam is really cool. I just couldnt afford an AP and the tune $350 tune vs $899 tune...

Revolutions dyno does not read high. Now you've got to be making ish up. You need atleast GT30 to hit 330awhp on Revolutions Dyno Dynamics. My mild 20G setup did 267awhp there a week ago. The guy who got tuned right ahead of me did 305awhp with a rotated GT30R on an EJ207. He had the same car on the dyno a week earlier at MAC and did 380awhp. Everyone in the frontrange area knows MACs dyno reads higher than Super Rupair and Revolutions.

Bottom line to the OP: Take it to Bandimere or PMP and run it down the track. That will be the real telling factor of your power output. Dynos are just a tool for tuning and comparing gains over previous runs, not the end all-tell all regarding power numbers.

+1. Every Wednesday night, come check out the "Test and Tune" nights at Bandimere. That is always a lot of fun everyone. State Patrol puts it on. They even run down the track and if they start losing they turn their lights on! Super funny.

Not sure if you ever ran 1/4 at lower elevation, but obviously you know you'll not run that same here. When I ran, the DA (Density Altitude) was roughly 8000ft! So my 14.6 time might be a high 13 at sea level.

It's a smart idea really. They call it "Take it to the Track" ya know, to help keep those crazy racer folk off the streets You should pitch the idea to your local police!

alt = altitude

The less dense air will increase spool up time on larger turbos (don't really see a difference on smaller turbos though).

Bandimere would be a good test of those dyno numbers. Wednesday nights, starting at 4. Be there or be square.

You must be talking about Paul, he has a 30r and a 207, and has been to both shops.

Wait what??? lol am I to understand that for example my friend who just dyno'd at MAC a few days ago (major hail storm Parker!) and put down 294hp 346tq to the wheels on his 2006 WRX...that that number is wrong? that number is sea level numbers? because at Super Ruupair, same setup/tune got him 252whp... so that's like a 40hp difference between the two dyno....
