Default Stage 1 2008 STI in the 12's!!!!!

Yes, my first time racing the STI and my first time drag racing ever, I got my stg 1 08 STI in the 12's (barely). Temps started aroudn 90 deg.

12.98 @ 104.96
1.738 60'

My best trap of the night was 13.20 @ 106.39 (with traction control on)

Here are the mods-
Tau Performance (that's me) Stage 1 tune FTW!
Hallman MBC/ BCS hybrid setup @ 19 psi peak
UR crank pulley
2.5 gal of E85 per tank for ~93.5 oct
Snorkus delete

That's it!

Here are the slips. I have vid of the 12.98 run also but I'll post it later. I was car #18.

I don't know if he broke but it was a mid 60's Ford Falcon I think. Later, he was running high 11's.

The 13 sec run was against a new Mitsu Ralliart.

Here are my friends comments who videoed the runs for me-

"Just got back from Firebird. There were some nice cars running tonight. The air must have been bad because I saw a 06 STi run 14's, a Mazda Speed 3 run low 15's, and C6 Vettes were sitting at mid 13's. Jeremy ran too. I'll let him post his times so I don't steal his thunder. I'll just say that I calculated the DA for the time when he did his best ET and it was 4000ft."

Also a fairly stock Mustang GT with slicks was running 13.9.

Here's my last dyno plot. I have tuned the car significantly since then so I do have more power.

Nice times, you seem right in line with a Stage I STi with an experienced driver.

Not to stir the pot but how is this even considered "Stage 1"?

ehh it really depends on who you talk to. I think the OP considers catless exhaust and a tune stage 2. Since he only has a boost controller and a lighter pully, yet the stock exhaust he's still stage 1.

I understand its up for interpretation but I just think theres a lot goin on for that to be considered Stage 1. But at any rate, I understand.

^really? It has a crank pulley, boost controller and tune. That's a pretty small mod list. Good job on the pass!

Exactly. It is still all stock exhaust, stock IC, stock intake, stock inlet.

I will install a catless DP, headers and port the turbo soon and ceramic coat all the exhaust. Then I'll see what id does. I also plan to go full E85 to really wake it up.

I just was so excited because I can't remember seeing anyone else ever run in the 12's without changing the DP.

Where are all the drag kings at? STIMikey, etc. Could I get a little feedback? I'm interested to hear from those more experienced than I in the 1/4 mi.

actually, I ran my 12.92 last summer at the Solstice Event on an intake and stage 1 tune. No MBC. I'm sure I could have run faster if I had an MBC and jacked up the boost. Threw on a 3" catless DP, stock CBE, new tune and ran 12.7 a few weeks later. Pretty sure I could've gotten down to 12.6 with just those 2 items, but could never get my perfect launch with perfect shifting.

Also, AMR ran their stg 1 to 12.9 and a few others. You're right in line. Still, for first time at the strip, that's pretty good.

...and a snorkus delete, and 2.5 gallons of E85. Are YOU serious? You're acting like all he has is a tune and killed it at the track. All I'm saying is there seems to be quite a bit goin on for it to be considered "Stage 1".

Hey call it what you want, I was pretty happy for it being my first time ever at the track, not just in this car, but ever.

I'm not trying to say OMG I have the fastest 08 on the planet and I am the best driver. I was just looking for some feedback.

Why oh why is this place filled to the brim with haters. Does it matter to you? Split hairs over the definition of stage 1 like you're butthurt over it.

Congrats to the OP, great time and driving!! I'm really surprised you trapped that with traction control ON! Every time I've forgotten to turn it off, it has killed my run completely (1st to 2nd = bog city).

Well, all I can attribute it to is the track was well prepped for the bracket dragsters that ran that night also and I revved it to around 5500, so even with the traction control I netted a 1.79 60' and the 106.3 trap.

I was able to get better 60's with the TC off though.

The other thing I find curious is my first run, the 13.2. I picked up almost 26 MPH in the final 1/8. That was fairly shocking to me. I couldn't repeat it though. I think this happened on this run as my car was the coolest for this run, even though the air was the warmest- it was still 90 out at that point.
