Default adding cruise to a 1995 OB Impreza

Is it possible to add cruise control to a 1995 Impreza Outback Wagon.? It says it was listed has an option. What parts do I need to buy? Any websites or threads talk about this more.? I did a search but came up with nothing..

You car is likely pre-wired for the c.c. Check if there is a plug with wires sitting behind the rightmost blank cover on the trim cover under the instruments. I found one in my car (a '95 wagon) while replacing a bulb in the hazard flasher button. I want to add the c.c. some day. What is needed is a "cruise control kit" with a correct part number for the year. If you find out the p/n for '95, please let me know.

i can tell you the part #, i just need a little more info. 1.8 or 2.2? AT or MT? and do you have the 2 horn buttons or the newer style single pad. all the stuff you need comes as a kit for ~$70.

I'd be glad to know the p/n for my car,
it's a '95 2.2 auto, like yours. The horn
switch uses a pad, not buttons.

I know that some of these are not available from SOA. The 97 2.2l manual is obsolete. It's still available in Canada, but for $400 plus tax. Not worth it to me.
Try Teagues once you have the part #, or you can just call him and he will look it up for you.
It's a pretty straight forward install. See i-clubber WAC's website for detailed instuctions with pictures.

Subaruparts lists c.c. kits for each year from 1996 to 1999, and older ones can be ordered by part number (although I got mine elsewhere). The p/n for 1997 auto/manual is H7010FA223/233.

Default cruise control frustration

Imagine my frustration when I tried to find the OEM cc kit for my 2000 L.

Doesn't exist. No factory installed wiring for it.

I don't really want to do a third party aftermarket thing. I like the stock control on the right side of the steering wheel.

I was thinking of getting a kit for a MY99. That would give me all the appropriate parts. Then I'd have to fabricate some wiring. I'm thinking the difficult part would be getting the mating connectors to plug into the various parts (brain, switch, actuator, etc.).

Or possibly combining the oem kit with an aftermarket kit. Use the switches and actuator and mounting pieces from the oem kit, and the brain and wiring harness from the aftermarket kit.

Any one have any ideas or comments?

What exactly is the install procedure for these? Is it just a cluster of buttons that you plug in, or is there more to it. I check the subaruparts.com and they had the 97 manual for $57

Default OEM cc kit install

I helped a friend install the OEM kit on his MY99 OBS w/ MT.

-There is a steering wheel mounted control switch.
-There is a dash mounted on/off switch.
-There is a "brain that installs under the driver side kick panel.
-There is a vacuum canister/actuator that installs under the hood.
-Connections for throttle cable and vacuum from the manifold.

I've seen installation pictures on some website, but I don't know where.

Major trick is getting the vacuum plug out of the manifold to get vacuum to the actuator.

If you have more questions, I'll try to answer.

Steve.

Agree. I removed this plug on a hot engine (aluminum has a higher thermal expansion rate than steel) with adjustable plumber's pliers, then waited till the manifold cooled down to thread the hose connector in.
Levvy: to install the steering wheel switch, the airbag has to be removed.
