Default bugeye fog light bulb replacement

One of my foglights on my 03 WRX has been out for a couple of months, so I decided to change the bulbs this evening. That turned out to be a much bigger PITA than I expected. Are there any tricks to getting the foglight housings loose that I don't know about, or does Subaru just use incredibly cheap screws to hold them in? I broke the heads off 2 of the 3 mounting screws on one side using only a 1/4 inch socket wrench and very minimal force. Of course, the first screw came out fine, so I didn't realize I was in trouble until the 2nd and 3rd one. I didn't even bother with the other side, because those screws seemed to be rusted solid, and I figured they'd break in a heartbeat, too.

Are they something that will be fairly easy to drill out and replace, or am I looking at coming up with something custom to try to hold the lens assemblies back in place?

Had the same problem

From underneath, You can get in behind the assembly.

I PB'ed the hack out of the front and back side of the nut/bolt and took it out with needle nose vice grips. Yes it's slow going but can be done.

If you have a welder handy, welding a bolt on the back side works also.
