Spun Bearing @ 176k

Default Will pay for clutch work...

CN: new clutch 35k ago, pilot bearing now bad, can't do clutch this time because of my back, want to pay someone, shop or person, give me a price, in Yorba Linda

I put a new Exedy Stage 1 clutch setup in about 35k miles ago, along with a dealer bought pilot bearing. It seems the pilot bearing is now shot. My pops and I were going to do it about 2 weeks ago, until I hurt my back the day before lifting some heavy boxes. I missed 4 days of work and my back still hurts. I did the previous install myself, but I can't take the chance of hurting my back again this time. Why not just have my pops do it? Cause he's lazy and will make me do most of the work anyway.

I may consider a local shop near North OC for the right price, but I really can't be without the car for more than 2 weekdays. I'm self employed and don't get paid for taking days off work.

I'd prefer to have someone help me do it, doing most of the dirty work and especially the crawling around for me. Prefer someone that's actually done a clutch before, but not a requirement if you at least have some mechanical experience. We can do it here at my place, I have all the tools, air tools, and a trans jack, or I'm happy to bring it somewhere if that's better. I know some of the guys here have bigger/nicer garages than I do.

Or, if a few people want to pitch in and all help, I'll make an install day out of it. I'll provide food, drinks, and beer. And those who do the work for me, I'll throw them a few bucks too. I'm cool with whatever, I just need to get'er done soon. It's getting hard to shift now.

So reply, send me a PM, or text the number below and let me know what you're up for, and what you want in return. Just no sexual favors.. lol.

Bill

Ok, ok... I get the hint.

Unfortunately, Apollo is a bit far from me, but I didn't give my location, so my fault (updated OP). If he can do it same day, maybe I'll make the trip out there and just hang out in the area for the day.

I emailed a few of the other shops too... but if you read more than just the CN, I would prefer to use someone as help, and finish the job in one day, nearby. Plus, I like working on my car, I just can't do the strenuous stuff right now. I also figure it would be cheaper, quicker, funner, and maybe someone could use the money in this economy.

Then again, I'm sure the shops could probably use some help in this economy too.

Hey Bill,

I know you would prefer a hand in getting this thing installed, but if you do decide on a shop, give Garage Tuning consideration if you haven't already. Kevin's folks did my clutch while I waited (in just a little over a couple of hours). They were great guys to deal with and were more than fair on the price. Also, I just looked at their website and noticed this:

Quote:
Clutch Service SALE
Our clutch installation service is now on sale. We are offering the original equipment clutch by Exedy, installed for $500 WRX and $600 STi.
Their shop is in Orange near the Pond (or whaterever it's called) IIRC. ....off Katella. Here is a link to their website:

http://www.garagetuning.com/

Contact info/directions:
Quote:
We are now in the city of Orange. Please ignore online mapping software directions. You will get lost, every time. From the 57 freeway, exit Katella and head East. Turn right on Batavia. Immediately after passing Collins, turn left onto Barkley. We are the second driveway on the right.

Garage Tuning
810 W. Barkley Ave.
Unit A
Orange, CA 92868

Garage Tuning accepts Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and of course, cash.
....hope this helps.
