Also, Tim K, I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just argumentative as you can see

This is always the same argument.

If all you care about is your deadlift, squat or bench numbers then obviously you want to be doing those weekly and optimally with supplemental lifts.

But if you want to train for the unknown then a continouslly varying program such as Crossfit might be what you're looking for. Which is why SWAT/cops, firefighters, warfighters etc find benefit in the program. Is it the one thing to do? No it is A thing, as is one's ability to lift a heavy weight..just A part of fitness.

The guy that can squat 1000lbs, cool but I don't really care. The guy that runs marathons, cool but I don't really care. Much as they probably don't care about this thread. It's all good.

Today's WOD in the box. ****ing ugh. 800m x 3 is not something I'm looking forward to. I hate run-heavy sessions.

today's workout looks as such

Quote:
Strength:
Power Cleans
3-3-3-1-1-1
*Compare to: June 13th (3-3-3-1-1-1)

WOD:
3 Rounds for Time:
Run 200m
10 Power Cleans (70/50k)
30 Barrier Jumps
*Goal = 7-14 minutes
Only 30 power cleans.. Last WOD i did heavy was a 21-15-9 with a 50KG Power Clean.. Heaviest weight i've used... Im feeling 60KG or even 65KG, these weights weights weren't even fathamably when i first began haha.

Now if only i could get over this god damn hangup with gaining weight.. Ive been stuck at 147-148lbs for the past 1 1/2 months... I gained 7lbs by doing NOTHING really, i didnt change my diet, i just went to crossfit... recently i went to more strict paleo type diet, but included milk for the calories and fat... at the end of the day i'll way in at 149-150lbs by morning time im back to 148/147... sigh.

What I'm doing tonight (a variation on my box's WOD) --

1200m moderate pace warmup run

30 min AMRAP

first 15 min:

5 Thruster 95/65

7 Hang Power Clean 95/65

10 SDHP 95/65

Then without rest for the second 15 min:

5 Pull-ups

7 Burpee

10 Dumbell thruster (40lb dumbells)

1200m moderate pace cool-down run.

I shall report back tomorrow with my total rounds...

Keep at it, Neek, you won't be dreading those runs before long.

Just sayin . . .

If Janq were still here, he'd be hastily arranging his faux-hawk and lacing up his classic NB's (acknowledged possible neg on the lack of hips).

The only thing I'm going to say about this is that everyone was honest, and had to post videos to address the issue you brought up. Everyone is 5% bodyfat and benches 500 for reps, raw, on the internet. Vids change that.

Today's was tough...did the Heavy Fran from earlier this week:

Quote:
15 - 12 - 9 of:

135lb Thrusters
45lb Pull-ups
I scaled the thrusters to 105lbs, and scaled UP on the pull-ups to 55lbs. 13:23.

I'm doing the 135lb thrusters, but doing bodyweight pull-ups. Adding in weighted situps, too.

participated in the USMC Mud Run(The Leatherneck) in Columbia SC yesterday. It's the biggest one in the country with 15,000 competitors. So much fun, but so much more intense than the one in Greenville, SC. If you've never done one, find the next one that is somewhat near you and do it. You wont regret it. there's lots of crossfitters there.

I can do them with the wall...no worries. Still can't do one free-standing though.

^ Ditto but I generally avoid them because I'm terrible upside down. Last time I did them for sets I busted blood vessels in my eyes and my face looked like I had acne for a couple days.

Honestly, IMO, there is no reason to do HSPU unless you're somewhere with no access to weight equipment. For me it is faster to work into OHPs using a rack than it is to do HSPUs.

This bastard came up with the Tabata workout which pretty much kicked my ass this morning at my box.

8 rounds of 20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest of the following 5 exercises:

squats
push ups
sit ups
pull ups
mountain climbers

2 minute rest between each exercise.

This is my little slice of hell today:

Ten rounds for time of:
135 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
15 push-ups

Probably follow it up with 15-20 mins on the row machine (depending on how long the WOD takes me).
