5 min AMRAP 165 clean and jerks is pretty solid, that should bring some separation.

This one will reward the strong and punish the weak. Look at Bergeron, she could thruster every rep when Sherwood had to jerk em all.

My guess is alot of the Open entrants are going to fail this one
Interesting that you can do a Thruster, Push Press, Jerk and clean how ever the hell you want. Can't wait to see some of the videos for this one. |

I might be able to squeak a few out, but certainly not a lot of them. Gonna give it a shot though.

Honestly, it's the "jerk" that seems to give me trouble. I wonder if they care if it ends up being more of a push press or thruster? I could handle a few if they would allow that. Still, in 5 minutes I would expect to be able to knock out maybe one a minute...maybe. I need to build up my strength a lot more.

They don't care. I watched the demo vid
Only rules 1. Start on floor 2. must get it to rack position and then do a full squat. It can be a power clean and then a front squat or a squat clean. 3. must lock bar out over ahead. you can thrust it out of the squat if you can, you can jerk it, push press it, whatever. |

yesterday's WOD:
12min AMRAP 5 C&J with 135(I had to do push presses instead because it's a more stable lift with my shoulder than a jerk.) 200m row I got 5 rounds plus 2 reps of PP's. I was wanting to get 6, but my back just gave out due to the PP's. I cant go fully overhead so I have to come out forward more on my lift and it really tires my back out. Todays WOD is gonna be a SealFit, but it doesnt actually look that bad, probably one of the easier ones: ROM drills 30min AMRAP: 20 Wall Balls(20lb) 40 Double Unders Then a 3 mile run at a moderate pace. |

only if done incorrectly. I've personally never seen anyone hurt themselves doing those certain workouts.

First day back since vacation. Did "Helen"
3 rounds for time 400m run 21 Kettlebell swings (35 lbs) 12 pull ups 19:38 Still using a blue band to help with pull ups. Can't get the kipping stuff down yet. That workout whooped me though. Lay on the ground for 3 minutes after just breathing. |

C - well said. I love crossfit and am very competitive but I know where to draw the line. The elite guys are unbelievably/ridiculously strong. I'm 5' 7" - 151 pounds. For me to try this workout with 165lbs is crazy. I know guys like Spealer can do it - but he's a freak - and honestly - this is what the guy does for a living.
While someday I would love to be able to come close to him, I am pretty satisfied in knowing that since I started Corssfit (15 months ago) I dropped over 17% bodyfat down to under 11%, can reel off a ton of push ups and pull ups, DL 2 1/2 x bw and bench 1 1/2 x BW comfortably. At 45 I think I'm in better shape than 99% of America. It's those damn 1% that still get me ![]() |

Well after today's wod (which had cleans in it) My buddy and I decided to load a bar with 165 and see how they go. The good news is I won't put up a goose egg. As long as I can transition my grip between the clean and the jerk OK, I think I can try to put up a few in 5 minutes. Gonna give it a shot. How bad can 5 minutes hurt? (kidding)
Nice job coop! Keep showing up! When you can, drop down to the red band (should be less help). Andrea and I couldn't do a single pullup when we started, now we're stringing 15 in a row kipping and I can do 8-10 dead hang. |

I've seen plenty of videos that they post on the Crossfit site where you see form breaking down because of fatigue. Form goes out the window with fatigue, and let's face it, when you're doing rep after rep for 15-20 minutes your form is not going to be the same at the end of the WoD as it was at the beginning.

today 3RM power cleans
3-3-3-3-3-3 struggled at first but pulled off 65-75-75-75-85-85 Was actually enjoying them by the end, probably because I didn't need to get as low or lift as high as other lifts. Kinda want to do more! |
