You'll be in here talking about doing Kong, Fight Gone Bad, and other workouts before you know it.

My biggest advice to you is to not do it alone. Not only for safety but for the companionship. If not possible, motivate yourself with things like this thread.

Oh, I'm just here to get in shape, and beat all your PR's.

My PRs won't be tough to beat, especially on the lifting.

I have treadmills, stair master, roman chair, heavy bag, and some basic workout machines like leg ext/curl, bicep/tricep, ab/back extension, as well as swiss balls and plenty of bands and wall anchors.
My wife and I started together and being able to do it together is a large part of our success. I can't imagine if she didn't do it with me. Someone wrote a pretty on point article about why crossfit works so well for couples:

My wife and I push each other pretty hard at times. I make her choose higher weights when I know she can do it, she makes me go faster than I think I can. It's been a great bonding experience for us. Plus she can do this (crosspost from fitness/strength thread alert!):

She's always been a runner/plyo nut. Now she's strong as **** too. Killer combo!

I have a feeling you are gonna drive yourself crazy trying to do Crossfit unless you outfit a gym with proper barbells/bumpers, kettlebells, dumbells, etc. You can do all the body weight stuff but the weights are a big part of Crossfit. If I was you, I'd do at least a month or two at a local box, to get in the flow and then if you wanted to do it on your own, go for it. I'd bet you end up staying in the gym.

Thought about local gym. Owner is a friend of mine.

http://firebreatherfitness.com/?page_id=27

I will add on as I go. Just now did 5 sets of 10 reps air squats, burpees, pullups. I didn't fail a set but I puked at the end. I haven't puked since the days of 500lb squats and 900lb leg presses.

Nice! Now 5 rounds of 10 of burpee box jumps and pistols (each leg)...just to make sure you can't walk for a week.

I'm one of the few that love to do it by myself. Nothing to me like turning on some good tunes and going for it.

I lifted for years before CF, but now, there's no way I'll go back to just that. I'm nearing 30, and the drive to be strong/big and nothing else is just not a goal anymore. I'm more concerned with my heightening my overall fitness level. So I guarantee once you get into it, you'll never look back. One thing that I noticed that CF helped me with as far as sports is when I play pick up bball. I get open nearly anytime I want because I'll run my defender to death. I would say it should help in Rball.

Also, Ive got shoulder problems like you. If you ever come up on something that hurts your shoulder, chances are it hurts mine too, and Ive got workarounds now for nearly everything that hurts the shoulder. So just ask and maybe I can help.

KB's can be found cheap at local "Play it again sports" stores. Also check at Target and Academy. Online really only Amazon is worth it, since shipping them is pricey. The vinyl ones are the best IMO, but pricey.

I'd get one at 15 or 20lbs and then one at either 35 or 45lbs.

If you want to stay cheap...and you are only going to use KB's as two-handed normal swings (like this:
) then you can even use regular dumbbells. For instance, on the heavy pood workouts we will use 75lb dumbbells for the kb swing. See here:

Go to Tractor Supply and buy their rubber horse stall flooring material. Much cheaper and works just as well.

Nice! There's one across the street from me. I just need something other than carpet to hit, and to sweat on.

Today:
20 Min AMRAP

20 Deadlifts (185) I did 135
20 back squats (95) I did 80
20 overhead walking lunges (45) I did 20

Got through 154 total reps. Felt better on the squats than I have been, managed to get lower I think. Deadlifts still make me go bwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Should I be doing consecutive days of CF? Or is it 2-3 days and rest?

And for me it typically is: Mon/Tues on...Wednesday off (doing regular lifting), Thur/Fri on. Weekends off to do whatever sport I feel like or nothing at all.

Meh, once you get into you'll figure out what works best for your body. I do M-F and off on Saturday and Sunday. Yes, technically in the CrossFit world 3 on 1 off is RX, but to me that means nothing. Find out what works best for you.

Lord have mercy on my body. Tonite I did normal warmup which took me 24 mins to stretch and do 3 set of 12 sit ups, exts, Sampson's, squats, pull ups and dips. After that I did my routine in 8:21.

3 rounds of 20: jumping jacks, burpees, air squats. I've been using a CF travel app which is basic exercises without weights. Going KB and weight rack shopping tomorrow.

Nice job!

Tonight for me was just for fun since today at lunch was weightlifting.

Tonight was 100 wallballs for time, then 3 rounds of 10 of handstand pu and 45lb kb swings. Did the wallballs in 6:40.
