How did you bend them? Do you have pictures of the damage?

They can be reconditioned if the damage is not severe. One of my 5 SSR Type C's (one piece) is just out of spec for balancing and is going in for rehab in a couple of weeks.

THey are DAMAGED. 1: bent on the lip. 1: had a bend in the rim needs major balancing. 1: has a busted lip. I DO NOT CARE IF THESE RIMS LOOK LIKE **** WHEN DONE!!! Just as long as they roll straight! I want to know if they can be fixed...im scared to post pics of this horride damage...Im almost willing to pay 700 to have 3 of these rims fixed. Any crazy rim shops with these capabilities? I heard of a tire shop being able to widen rims? anybody heard of this? read about it on nasioc... but cant find the thread

that really sucks!

I wouldn't recommend widen rims, as it'll change the physical character of the rims. I hope someone in your area can help you find a local shop to repair your rims; or at least tell you if they can be fixed.

Good luck!

Take the wheel to an independent tire and wheel shop. Someone who knows what they are doing. They can tell if the damage can be repaired. Any wheel shop worth doing business with will know a shop to outsource the work.

The one-piece SSR type C are scary light and worth repairing. SSR doesn't make them that light anymore.

SSR Comps were EXTREMELY light. But, the COMP was a tire rack exclusive, so now they are discontinued.

The newer Type C-RS uses a 2 piece hybrid design vs the COMP. Some people said the COMPs were so light because they sacrificed metal and didn't have strength

So, it seems SSR went with a 2 piece design using an SSF Forged Drum and face, but using HTM on the drum (from their website). This allows for more sizes/offsets, and better strength

Their wheels are still light by modern standards (sometimes even lighter than Rays).

I'm still running the SSR Comp Type-C. The 17X7.5 weighs 13 lbs. After SSR reorganized and got a new owner they changed the product line and discontinued the one-piece Competitions. The 17" and smaller sizes are strong. I busted several 16" cast alloys over the years and have taken hits with the Comps that I was sure would result in damage but the Type-Cs just keep going.

SSR Comps are one of the lightest wheels around. But I'm guessing they are probably harder to fix because less materials are used.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I know how much you probably love the wheels, I used two own two sets of them, down to one set now... and I sent you a PM if you're interested in buying them (genuine TireRack SSR Comps in 17x8.5 +48) with Bridgestone 255/40 RE01R tires.
