Default ST tires

What's the best tire for ST? I'm looking to drop my class down from STX and just want to make sure I get the right tire this time

I'll take "what budget" for $300, Alex.

"That's the Daily Double!"

Suck it Trebek.

As long as it's a 225 (or smaller), it's hard to go wrong with one of these.

I have my profile filled out...so take a guess, or if you want to make absolutely sure you could look my other threads (a couple are in the motorsport section too)

Since I asked for the best, than the budget thing is kinda irrelevant

recnelis, thank you

No one runs a 2007 RS in ST nationally. So really, there's no 'best' for the 2007 2.5i. No one knows. Hence:

We can suggest tires 'till we're blue in the face, but there's no one that can tell me, nor could they be able to tell you, what 225 tire on a 7" wheel is best on a 2900-3000+ lb "ST" Subaru. No one has really gone through the testing motions on a national scale with that car (there are things that work locally that won't work at other places)

The only evidence for either a) 245s on the STX/STU cars with wider wheels, and b) results on the MUCH LIGHTER ST cars on narrower wheels. It's all anecdotal to your need. You're sort of breaking the mold trying the 2.5i in ST.

Also, check your attitude at the door.

Right on KC...You tell him.

If I were saddled with an '07 RS in ST, I'd probably choose Yokohama AD08 225/45-17 or maybe 225/50-16

You could get a hitch to tow the '89 Civic Si you will need... <grin>

Barring that,
Yokohama Advan AD08
Bridgestone RE-11
Toyo R1-R
Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec
Kumho XS
Hankook RS-3

If you're gonna lose to Civics, you might as well be on the right rubber while doing it.

I've heard that the Star Spec is good for the heavier cars. They also take heat pretty well.

Add Nitto's NT05 to that list while we're throwing tires against the wall to see what sticks. I like it so far (after one little regional event, one regional street tire category "win" ).

I'm also in the wrong car for STX though is the thing, I'm better suited in ST...at least locally.
