Default 195's on factory 16" rims?

I've looked on all the online tire vendors and notice that they don't recommend any smaller than the factory 205/55-16 tire to fit on the factory 16" alloy rim. I'm interested in getting a skinnier 195/60-16 winter tire. Will it fit? I'd hate to spend the money to find out they don't fit and go through the trouble of returning them.

Plus, if they do fit and there are WRX drivers who run 195's in winter, is there any measurable difference in snow traction?

Thanks!

Sure. Theoretically you could mount 175/65/16's on the stock rims if you wanted really narrow. Not that anybody makes that size... At least 195/60/16 there's a tire or two out there.
