Angry Spraypaint overspray....

Ugh.... so my roommate thought it'd be a good idea to spraypaint his bike in the garage with my car in there too last night.... so now I have some sweet red spraypaint overspray to highlight the passenger side door.
Anyone know of a product that will take the spraypaint off and not screw up my powdercoat?

It should be fairly easy to get off of the paint. The trim and headlights etc... not so much.

Sweet! It's only on powder coat luckily! Gonna check if my local AutoZone or Kragen has this in stock! Is this stuff brand specific or will any "Detailer Clay" get the job done?

Sorry, I come from the world of downhill mountain biking, where the only 2 kinds of finish are powder coat and anodizing. Just assumed cars were powder coated. Guess I'm wrong.

Haha, no one's aloud to touch my car but me. I won't even let them drive it to the store and back... he messed up, so he's paying for the clay; I'll do the work.

FWIW I had a customer bring his STi to me with 800 miles on it.

The owner of his apartment had the house painted (spray painted)... with the STI close enough to get covered 100% with paint specs. The whole car was covered. Moldings, glass, everything...

I charged him $200 (and it was not worth it to me at all. wouldnt do it again for less than $400) He in turn got the $200 back from the landlord. It took me a full day to get the car back in order.

What my point here is... Its going to cost alot more than $20 to fix the problem. That just covers the supplies.

Unless your time is worthless that is

....there are also other clays/kits available that are effective so don't feel limited to one brand. Clay Magic for example is typically cheaper by comparison but preferred by some over its competition. Either way, you should be fine. Auto body shops have been using clay for this purpose long before it found its way into the hands of the average consumer. Just make sure to work small areas at a time and keep the panel/surface well lubricated with the provided solution. The clay should glide over the surface with little effort/pressure. In fact, the following is a good article to review if you have never "clayed" before:

the previous owner on my car sprayed the trunk black and messed up leaving a nice 4 inch spot on the quarter panel. some generic rubbing compound got it right off. looks 100000x better

....you DO NOT want to use it on your car. Brake fluid can soften, discolor, bubble and eat through paint. In short, it acts like a paint stripper would. There are much safer alternatives available. ....there is absolutely no need to resort to this crap.
