Default Cost to do HPDE?

I am thinking about purchasing a miata as a track car. I was wondering if someone could give me an estimate on how much it would cost to run about 10 events a year including consumables? Thanks

there is a very active miata community. i'm sure you could find tons of information on this on one of their forums...not that we don't have quite a few people here that do or did have track miatas. there are a lot of different levels at which you could be running the car that would affect this number.

Too much variation into entry fees.

Could be $150/day, could be $225.

Let's call it $200/day fees and an "event" is 2 days.

So you're looking at $4,000 in fees alone. Then you have tires, a set should last 10 events...so $3500-700 depending on the tire.

$30 in rotors, $700 in gas, and $300 ish in pads.

He's in BAIC, so that means he's exposed to the elite tracks (Laguna Seca and Sears Point). The sanctioning bodies who run events there (Speed Ventures, NASA, Skip Barber, OTR) charge ~ $350-$400 PER DAY, and that doesn't include transponder, amenities, consumables, and instructor fees. You'll pay a premium for running on those tracks compared to SoCal (Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, California Speedway) where a track day costs $130-$250.

I forgot about Thunderhill.

You shouldn't need a transponder for any HPDE, nor should you be paying for instruction. Last I knew neither NASA nor Skippy ran HPDE's.

NASA runs an HPDE program at every one of their events.

Thanks, I was mostly looking for consumables as I know that the entries would be different.

Consumables depend on whether you're sunday driving, or whether you're driving like every lap is qualifying. It *is* possible to destroy tires and brakes with a miata.

possible? easy my man. Second set of fronts in the miata this season, but the first did last some 25+ sessions including like 7 or 8 races or something like that.

I would plan on a set of front pads lasting you 3-4 days and rears 6-7, with disks in there somewhere depending on wear and cracks.(we're talking about a wrx/sti right?) Thats what I found with a track compound, which you will want to run if you get serious, or even semi serious about tracking your car.
Tires all depend on how much you want to spend and how fast you want to go
