Question Anyone have Dual Tips on their Pre-99 Legacy?

I just ordered the MRT exhaust with dual tip muffler for my 99 GT sedan. I am a little worried as to whether or not it will fit. Brian at Langston Subaru didn't make any comments about dual tips not fitting but I just want to be sure.

Let me know.

Thanks
Brad

MY99 2.5GT - The dual tips will not work on the GT without cutting the rear valence. I have the Brullen dual 3" tip cat-back on my Legacy L, and if there was a rear valence there, it definately would not work.

Crap!

I am pretty sure but, can anyone confirm that the axle back section of the exhaust is the same between Legacies and Imprezas?

Thanks for the help GTBGUY!

Default FYI

MY99 2.5GT - Rear muffler section hangers are slightly off between the mufflers (as well as tip lengths etc).
Here's a pic of my '98L w/ the Dual 3" tips. Notice no rear valence.

Having had both an Impreza and a Legacy MRT exhaust sitting in my garage at the same time, I can definitely say the axle-back sections are not the same. No huge differences - a muffler shop could "fix" things easily - but as GTBGUY said the hangers and details like that are a bit different.

I'm pretty sure MRT doesn't sell the Legacy muffler with the dual tips, and I think the reason is because it won't fit. It would certainly look sweet, though, if you don't mind doing a little Dremel work on your plastic valence.

Thanks for the info guys. Cutting my bumper isn't going to happen.

I initially wanted a single tip with a larger tip. Brian (MRT Distributor I ordered from) said MRT has no larger single tip that they could include with their exhausts.

GTBGUY any word on universal Brullen Muffler prices?

Thanks
Brad

Larger than what, Brad? If you want larger than stock, then the normal MRT Legacy muffler should do you fine. The tip is the same style as stock, but is 4" (I think) instead of the 3" stock tip. It's your car, of course, so do what you want, but I think anything bigger than the MRT tip would be too big.

Unfortunately I don't have an exhaust-specific picture, but here are two different rear quarter shots that show the exhaust tip:

Pat-I was talking about the exhaust tip. I definitely don't want a larger overall muffler. That thing is huge already.

On MRT's website this is printed under Legacy Exhausts:

"Choice of muffler tips available - standard option is a 2 1/2-chrome tip." Then also this: "NOTE 3-inch SS tip shown extra NOTE not suited for models with coil over rear shocks see alternate part". Don't ask me why the 3" tip won't fit with Coi-Overs but I will assume you have the 3" tip in this picture:

This is a 4" tip. Thats what I want. I'm also pretty fond of stainless steel mufflers.
