Default What are these white vans with cameras doing?

A couple of days last week I saw a white van with cameras on the roof pointing to the side and the front parked at the on/off ramp on 45 between the Webster bybass light and FM 518. THIS IS NOT THE TAILPIPE EMISSIONS VAN. I know what those are and what they look like. This is a Ford van with cameras and a bunch of antennas on top. Does anyone know what they do?

They might be taking pics for google maps. They have street view that show a 360 shot.

I hope they caught the super awesome power slide on to the feeder I made while simultaneously running the red light (I beat it to turning green) and cutting off an F-150 in the process!!

Probably just a truck for mapping or something.

It's not the Google van either, I've seen that and even stopped the guy and talked to him when he came down my street. It is a white, unmarked van that is parked at the on/off ramp area by 518. The cameras also don't face backwards, that's where the antennas are. It might even have Texas exempt plates, I don't remember.

I'm with YML. Those vans are stalking children to figure out the perfect time to snatch them.

That sounds NUTS!

You think they are mad and scared the state is going to take away their red-light cameras?

Sorry, but unless you work for law enforcement, you can't enforce the law.

I would love to see one of those try and pull me over.

Them - "Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?"
Me - "I sure as **** don't considering you're not a law enforcement officer....and since that's the case, I would assume you just wanted to check out this hotness in person?"
Them - "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....you were speeding"
Me - "Can I get your badge number?"
Them - "I don't have a badge since I'm not a law enforcement officer."
Me - "Awesome! Great story Hansle!" <drives off laughing and speeding>

This Big Brother crap is frustrating. If it isn't one thing it's another. They want it like the UK has it. If you ask me, I think they are not the only ones that surrender, not just the French.

It is getting harder to keep any privacy anymore. Since I got this house, I have gotten emails, letters, and phone calls, from vendors that know all my damn business.

FISA? Yeah, ATT had a hardline connection to their servers until a concerned citizen squealed in 2007. I'm sure it's been reconnected since....
