As much as I feel like we should be going to this, there's a special event going on in our home region ( www.noraracing.net ) that I feel obligated to run.

Have fun everyone....enjoy that concrete for all it's glory!

Nope. Family gathering type thing up in NYC. No Rankins in Peru.

I have no other life.

It might also not be as *bad* as some think as far as $..

DC Pro
Entry: $95.oo
Gas: $100.oo
Hotel: $190.oo
Tire Depreciation: $100.oo (though... it would have been more if I had the right tires)
Food: ~$70 (my "real" food costs - buying for my dad and I was $90, but I would have food anyway.. so I divided my eating costs by half - but not my dad's since he was coming along as crew and that's the least I can do.)

So: $555.oo for the event. Peru will be a little more because of the longer trip/more fuel - but not much unless the tire wear ends up horrible.. which it could.

In comparison a "local" event in NC/SC will still cost me ~$200 once you factor in tires and such. So once you are running a "top level" - or pretending it's "top level" effort the costs are not that much more to see where you stand against the best, run better courses, "try" for contingency, etc.

Jon
(who also will probably be splitting a hotel room in Peru with a few other SC guys, so the costs will come down - especially with me being willing to sleep on the floor.)

They give up on running regional autocrosses pretty much every weekend.

We're heading out soon, about 10:00 pm.thursday night ,do a few hours and crash, then repeat, hopefully by Sat. we'll be on.9 hours on the road sucks,at least we don't have to drive the STI ,the tow van is much better. We 'll be able to get a bit of testing done on Friday, and hopefully get the car dialed in for concrete ,this should be an adventure ,we don't run on concrete much in N.C..I hope we can run well both days and not break anything in the meantime. The weak points of the STI are beginning to rear there ugly heads ,so KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED and maybe we can put a SUBARU in the mix with the EVO's ,anyone at PERU please drop by our pit area an say hello,#58-#158 .....WRC blue 06 STI ..............Yo Jon ,what Hotel are you stay'n in ? Scott & Anna Da VooDoo Hoo Doo gon'a get choo !

I will probably not do that anyway. The Fiancee says I can go, but she doesn't like it so she put this offer up:

"You can go to one of those places, but I get dinner at the Melting Pot, and a shopping trip to the mall - you're buying."

See that budget above - it would add another $300+ and uh.. we are trying to do this on the cheap. :-D
