Default Sdrive or Htr z3

I'm looking at getting either Sdrives or the Htrz 3. Which one would be the better pick? There's only a couple of dollar difference between the two.Thanks.

They are NOT in the same league as the HTRZ3.

Best avoided unless you like sidewalls that roll over and play dead...

OP: go with the Sumitomo.

I just finished breaking in my HTRZIII's in 235/40/18. I usually go for the "cheap" performance tires and these are the best tire I have ever ran. My only gripe is that I can feel the sidewalls flexing on very sharp turns, but they stick amazingly regardless.

Also, I believe these run wide. My 235's look like 255's.

Tires I have ran in the past were Falken Ziex512 and Ziex912.

HTRZIII's imo are best bang for the buck. they perform pretty close to the old Kumho MX's (which they're rating is 220 while the sumitomo have a tread rating of 300, so you get some life and grip) but better in the wet. I'll probably buy the HTRIII's again for my dd wheels. I only need two at the moment and thats all I'm going to buy because I'm might be changing climates in the foreseeable future.

@ the above post... I think the sidewalls are pretty stiff at least on my 225/40/18's. My right rear tire has a leak and its gotten below 10psi and you can barely tell its low. just bump up the pressure ~_^

I have the S drive in 225/45/17 and they are awesome. What kind of driving will you be doing mostly? I use the car for DD, so it needs to handle good in the dry as well as the wet. About 5,000 on mine now and they as still as good as new.

My DD tire debate is between keeping the HTR's or going with the kumho SPT's since I was looking on tire rack and they both tested really close with the HTR's with a slight upper hand.

If the HTRZ3 were available in 235/40-17, that's what I'd be running right now...

And another vote for the HTR ZIII. They do run wide. I have 225s on a 7" wide wheel (yes I know too narrow) and they're wider then I expected. They would fit great on a 8" wide wheel.

They have a 300 rating, yet I'm coming close to burning thru my first set at about 15k miles. Still for the price that's not bad especially for the way I drive.

Also, another aspect that is often left un mentioned, is that they're fantastic in the wet and heavy rain.
