Default 2009-2010 NBA Thread

Never too early to talk NBA.

Draft is tomorrow, June 25. If the Clippers don't take Griffin, they should

Trades:

Jefferson to the Spurs. I think this helps them. Another scorer besides Duncan and Parker.

Foye and Miller to the Wizards for the 5th pick.

And the big one... Shaq to the Cavs. This the ticket for them to go to the promised land? We shall see.

Yeah thats what has me worried, I like what the cavs gave up for him. Wallace is going to retire anyway, sasha is a very streaky player and makes dumb mistakes. Cavs still need a long athletic defender.

Cavs without Lebron last year would have been the worst team in the league. I'm not sure adding Shaq will take them over the top.

Shaq is a one year rental. If it doesn't work out by the All-Star break, they dump him as a massive expiring deal for a star. I have a feeling it will work out great.

He is still better then every big man that the Cavs have. I don't think the daddy will help them beat the Tragic. He might come in motivated and end up doing great. Even if he is OLD.

Jefferson to the Spurs....now thats interesting.

woohoo new NBA thread!

I don't think that Shaq will really help out the Cav's all that much but the gamble might play off. Just like how JO didnt really workout for the Raps last season. I feel for Sun's fans though... what use to be an exciting team to watch...

If he's picked at #15 or w/e then yes, that will be a mistake. But he won't be a "flop," or "bust." The only expectations people have for him is an energetic bench/role player and that's what he'll do.

I think that Washington move is really staying under the radar. If the can stay healthy, that is a very talented team they've got now. Brendan Haywood coming back healthy, Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler, a healthy Gilbert Arenas, Mike Miller, Randy Foye and Nick Young. That's a first seven that can play with anyone.

^ too bad there's way better teams that will eliminate them in the playoffs.

19-63, 5th Southeast

maybe they'll win 40 games next season at best

This draft is weaksauce. WTF is Blake Griffin going to do in the NBA? He'll be another Scot Pollard at best.

The only person I see as a long term success in the NBA is Stephen Curry in an Isiah Thomas type PG role on the right team. On the wrong team he'll have Spud Webb's career without the dunk trophy.

Oh boy, I hope they don't take him. I think he'll be solid but I just don't want him. They talk of taking Mullens from OSU. I REALLY hope they don't take him. I hate that guy.

Yeah, I saw that. Keys are Arenas and Haywood. On the flip side, I wonder who the Wolves are targeting for the 5th pick?

You don't think Griffin will do good? I think he will.

I like Curry. Kinda wish he'd go to the Bulls but I know that won't happen. He doesn't have the point skills that Thomas had though. I see him more as a Steve Kerr type. He'd go great with the Knicks because of D'Antoni. Quick game for them and Curry can get his shot off fast.

I don't know what it is about Griffin but he just never impressed me. He was almost like Hansboro, really good against mediocre college players but really no great fit in the NBA. Hansboro will flop like a mofo. He could turn into a Birdman type fast break artist and rebounder, but that's about it.

I don't see Curry as a Kerr type. Kerr was a 3pt shooter only, and a 2 guard at that. Curry can slice and dice. Give him 3-4 more inches and he is the #1 or #2 pick.

#3 Rubio

Even though I don't think the Thunder should take him since they have Westbrook unless they plan to move him to the 2. Maybe they go Harden and Wolves with their 5 pick shoot for Rubio.

OTC: Kings

Proposed trade of Vince Carter to Orlando for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee.

this offseason seems to be a pretty interesting one

shaq going to the cavs, won't change anything. They won't make the finals again, james will get mad again and leave.

I would not want that trade if I was a orlando fan, carter is a virus and Alston/Lee are looking pretty good. But hey since I'm a cavs fan I'm all for it

More and more likely since they just sold their 1st round draft pick to the Knicks. Kupchak mentioned they really want to resign Odom, Brown and Ariza, which would put them at 13 players and no room for a draft pick to make the team.
