Default old lady hit and run! people suck!

So I was going to lunch at Rubio's in sugarhouse and while I was in the parking lot, a lady backed out of a parking space and hit the back of my car and drove off. I stopped and went to get out and I saw her look and then just drive away. I got her license plate but I'm guessing she doesn't have insurance and that is why she took off. PEOPLE SUCK!!!! There was two ladies in the car and looked to be about 50. Who the hell does that, especially when your 50? My car now has a scratch on the side of the bumper from the wheel to the back corner and about 4 inches wide. I'm just glad she didn't hit the body panel. My wife feels really bad so I think I may be able to get a full kit and not just the front bumper now, so maybe it's not all bad.

If I got the license plate number I'd call the police... not that they'd do anything, but it would be nice to at least make a record of it.

I tried to follow her but she turned the opposite direction of me and the sugar house parking lot is crazy busy. By the time I got out she was long gone. I just called the police and they said they contact me later but were kind of dicks about it. They could care less.

Contact the police, sheriff and your insurance. Also, find out who the owner is and where they live. There are ways.

I hate to say this, because I know it's not entirely their fault for not being as 'quick' as they probably once were, but some old people shouldn't be allowed to drive. I think you should have to retest your driving skills and knowledge once you hit your 60's or so and every 5 years after that.

Same thing happened to my mother-in-law a while ago, some old guy in an old MT beater rolled back like 3 feet before giving it gas at an intersection and rolled into her car, she followed him all the way to his house, which turned out to be real close. When he got out of the car he was all "Why the **** have you been following me?" She told him he had backed into her car and bent her plate into the paint. That idiot denied doing such and took off inside his home yelling explicatives and threats. She didn't take any other action and just left with bent plate and scratches.

Sucks to hear stories like yours... I hope things all work out okay.

Sounds like a hit and run to me. Regardless of the amount of damage.

I was reading the thread title as someone hit a old lady and drove off.

Personally, I wouldnt rely on the court system. Just track her license plate to her house, and brake the bitches hip.

I have had that happen to me twice now. Once was at my kids soccer game. I was talking to randi and complementing the parking job of the lady in front of me. Since the space was tight and she had to parallel park. 2 of my kids were sitting in the car. All of the sudden she backs up slams into my car and drives off. Both kids jump out yelling, "SHE JUST HIT YOUR CAR!". Randi and I ran over there and the lady drove off. She hit exactly on my front license plate so no damage, but I was like what the hell lady? I know she felt it because my car moved about a foot.

Sorry to hear it I hope it works out and she goes to jail. I doubt anything will happen to her since it happened in a parking lot. Utah and their stupid "no fault" accidents. I am assuming the law was set up for all our over sized vehicles and women drivers .

That exact same thing happened to my GF, except when she left the guys house she went straight to the police station and everything was taken care of and the driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident-damage resulting.
