I have a 98 impreza wagon. The clamed hp is 137 at the crank. It is an almost stock drivetrain with the single ehaust port heads. The only mods I have are as follows.
-removed intake scilencer -JUN FW 12lbs -ACT clutch -Stromung S/S axle back Dual tip I guess the only one that really counts on the dyno is the exhaust. *Drum roll* Hp=93.3 @5200 (quickly drops off after 5200) Tq=111 @3700 What can I say...she is a Dyno Queen! How do I read the AFR charts? I have no idea what they mean. I heard that NA cars are supposed to have around 12:1 or something like that. I don't really know what that means though. How can I use this data to tune my car? Later, Seth E. ![]()

The AFR can tell you how much power is being lost to conservative fuel mapping. The ideal stoichometric(sp?) balance would be 14.7 to 1, but this is pretty dangerous and extra fuel is added in order to keep the engine from running too lean and looking for other fuel sources to burn, stuff like pistons, valves etc. So lowering the ratio will help keep exhaust temps down and keep from burning pistons, but it will suck some performance from the beast as you are not combusting near peak efficiency.
Do a search on fuel controllers, there should be a discussion there on a method used by some RS owners to raise the ratio in the higher revs to increase power. The stock maps typically have the afr diving in the higher revs. Regards, scotto |

Seth,
Will you be posting a scanned pic of the dyno chart itself? Then we can see details as to how the powerband is. |

I can't post the charts because of the size. I can't compress the charts because I don't have the software. I will see what I can do though. Give me a few days, maybe I can figure something out.
