Default P0021 Cel

hey guys, i dont normally post since you guys are awesome and i seem to always find the answers i need! not this time though...

details: so ive got a 2012 sti with approx 63k miles. only engine mods are P&L motorsports catback, aem intake, and stage 1 cobb ots tune, daily driven, see's 4-5 autocross days per year.

the issue: about a month ago i was driving to work and got a cel for P0021 (camshaft b over advanced) (drivers side intake cam) did some research and thought it was the avcs solenoid, replaced it. great! code disappeared for about a week. then it came back, thought id do an oil change (only had 1k miles since last with Rotella t6) did a full flush, run, flush and refill, well today the code came back

i have been watching both drivers side and passenger side cam on my accessport, at idle avcs reads 0*, and duty cycle is around 10% (as i believe it should be) when it acts up the pass side reads 25* the drivers will read 0* and then randomly jump up to as high as 47* then drop back down to 0*. now, idle is perfect, runs perfect 90% of the time so ive ruled out timing belt. oil pressure is also exactly where it should be at idle and cruise. as far as im aware the 2012's dont have the avcs filters so i havent taken that apart. the only thing i can think of is the cam position sensor.

i tried to give as much detail as possible, any help is greatly appreciated! thanks guys!
