Default High Pitched Squeaking noise

When I first turn my car on and sit in idle, a noise starts to come from my engine and then once i throw it into a gear and start driving, it gets noticeably louder. the more i drive and warm up the car, the less it squeaks. but it will still do it every once in a while if i drop it into a lower gear and make a somewhat sharp turn. Because of that, i thought it could be my power steering belt, but i just had it changed not too long ago. maybe a couple thousand miles ago. the belt seems too narrow so the next thing i thought of was the noise was coming from the belt slipping back and forth? does anyone know what this noise is coming from?

Try tightening the belt. If you had it changed a few thousand miles ago the belt probably has stretched out a little and lost some tension.

To tighten the belt- loosen the bolt on the adjustment screw, then tighten the adjustment screw until the belt has ~ 1/4" give when you press on it between the alternator and the crank pulley. Tighten the bolt on the adjustment screw and you are done.
