PWN3D Finally got a CEL

So my totally bone stock 05 sport finally threw its first CEL

its ALMOST 4 years old and has around 51K.

Taking it to my friend who runs an independent subaru shop to pull the code. Hopefully its nothing bad. If it is, hopefully its covered by the powertrain or emissions warranty still

And yes I checked the gas cap

heads up, my catyltic went bad just about 6months ago. even thought its an 03 it only had 50k on the clock. good news it was still covered under subarus plan so i paid nothing for a $700 part. g/l there are tons of sensors and whatnot that could throw a CEL.

No symptoms other than the light

Had my friend with the shop pull it..

Drumroll please

Neutral / Park circuit fault (or something worded very close to that)

No logical reason why it would have come on, so we cleared it and if it comes back we will put it up on the rack and check all the connections under the car.

well my mechanic asked me if I was muddin or anything, I said no but I was on a gravel road (with 1 foot deep erosion valleys) but nothing was flying up hitting the bottom of the car or anything. Sounds like it would be a loose plug on the tranny or something... but I dont know for sure.

I had the park neutral switch fail. The light will likely come back.

so in your case the switch just went bad? (then change it, no more light?) it hasnt come back yet.... unless it becomes something constant I doubt I will replace the switch. Unless its under the powertrain warranty

Yes the switch went on mine, I was into the extended warranty at that point and it was covered under that. It takes about 20 minutes to replace, it's up alongside the tranny body so if it does go again, and you have access to a lift it's not a horrible DIY job. Or some ramps on the ground would do as well.
