Default The '08 D-Stock WRX Thread

Figured it was about time to quit jacking the '09 thread, so here's one for us with the Slow Rex.

Well, big improvement from the stock tires with the Kumho XS'es and the performance alignment.

I think I have probably picked up 3-4 seconds in a 45-60 second course.

I ended up 7th (paxed) out of 24 in novice and first D-stock. There was a guy running TDS who would be my competition once out of Novice. He was a good 3 seconds up on me, so I have a lot of work to do. I'm just figuring out how to launch these tires, and to really let the car go. I haven't even gotten close to losing it, so I guess I'm not pushing hard enough yet.

My last run was a clean 49.4 which I felt decent about, but I'm still not seeing the course very well. Better than the last race though.

Here's the video of a clean 52 second run:

Next will be installing the 25(actually 26mm) Perrin FARB.

Next race is an SCCA divisional at Texas Motor Speedway, July 10th-11th.

Down the road I expect to:

get some Kosei K1's wrapped with some V-710's
some sort of adjustable shock inserts. Hopefully Koni will get some out.
Cat-back, Possibly custom with magnaflow mufflers. Dealership has the SPT on sale for $730.00 but I'd like to get 3" piping for a possible step up to ESP someday.

Just about any tire is going to perform better than the RE92s do. Especially when you are talking about maximum traction. Are you currently running the Kuhmos on the stock rims?

Yeah, the 24 pounders

going to Kosei's with V710's should yield another performance boost. I'm guessing 10lbs per wheel of unsprung and rotating weight.

Shawn...since we're both "local", if you need help setting up that car I am happy to help. I should be at the Divisional, LMK if you'd like a codriver.

Definately try to find you there, James. I'm going to need all the help I can get it looks like, just to catch up to the MS3's.

Put the Perrin Bar on and wow, I was a bit skeptical as to how much 6mm of bar would do, especially with the stock end links on still, but wow. It's like a different car.

Think they are having runs out at A&M's race location possibly this weekend, I'll have to check. If so, I may give it a run.

The Stock wheels with the Kumho XS'es for anyone that is interested were 46.5 lbs each.

I'll be down at Gulf Greyhound Park this weekend (Sunday's autocross), working on getting the time off for the Divisional. I'll let you know!

It's looking like I may not be able to get the time off now. Someone else already has Vacation scheduled.

Good planning on my part.
