Question Got the go ahead for new wheels

The wifey gave me the go ahead to get new wheels for my 02. It looks like i'll be going with the 17" Rota Torques but unsure if i should go with the 7.5 or the 8. Both wheels have a +48 offset. I'm on the stock suspension and don't autox and don't do any racing. Basic driving with some spirited runs here and there. For all the wheel guru's out there what would you recommend for my case? Also, the best tire size to go with each set-up.

If i were to go with the 17x8 would i have rubbing issues with 235/45 tire?

My bro-in-law has fallen upon hard times and is in need of new wheels for his sunfire so i am giving him my old setup Motegi MR7's with 225/45/zr17 tires on them so i will need to be getting these wheels within the next 2 weeks. 3 weeks tops.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Does anyone have a setup for sale by chance? Really only interested in the Rota Torques but i am open to others in similar size. No black though. I am driving from El Paso to Klamath Falls Oregon in 2 weeks and can pick them up on my way. I'll be passing through Las Cruces, Tucson (if necessary), Phoenix, Kingman, Las Vegas, Reno and all places in between. If anyone from SoCal has something i can divert and take I-10 to I-5 and go from there.

8" wide will serve you good.

235/45R17 can fit, but it will be a bit tall. You are better off with a 235/40R17.

You may need to roll the rear fenders depending on your suspension and actual tire selection.

235/45/17 is too tall. WRX benefits from smaller tires to shorten the ratio.

235/40/17 is great and 0.6" shorter than stock which is near ideal, however it really should have a 17x8" (or wider) rim. 17x7.5" won't cut it.

I have been using 235/40 tires on 7.5" wide wheels for almost 100k miles with no issues at all of any sort

that said......the 17x8 is a FAR better choice

You shouldn't have any rubbing issues
I've been running 18 x 8 rims with 235-40R18 Dunlops on my 30 WRX with no rubbing issues.
