Question Which headlamps better? 97-98 or 99-00?

I'm upgrading to a MY99 front end, and have the option of either the fluted early headlamps or the later clear ones. Normally, you'd think the clear would be better, but on my company car (a Taurus) just the opposite is the case. Has anyone noticed a difference/compared/changed?
FWIW, I think the stock fluted ones in the '96 do an incredible job for what they are.

go with the clear later version. I have one of each on my Legacy. I like the clear better. Looks better, light is a little clearer (?) and light is whiter. If it wasen't so much, I'd buy anouther clear one to match.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the reply. We can get them for about $100 used. I somehow wound up with one of each and need to trade one in.

Wait, you can get a set of 99-00 headlights for $100 used? I could use a set since I'm also updating to the newer look. I already have the grille, need the headlights and the hood.

Ah. So that's $120 each, which is $240 for a pair which is too much. I think you might be able to get those headlights through a dealer for less, but I'm not sure on that.
