I searched and couldn't find the answer. I just picked up a set of 18x8.5 wheels with a 48mm offset that have the standard 225/40r18 tires on them. my question is has anyone installed 255/35r18 tires on wheels this size and offset on a 04 WRX? I don't really want to waste hours mounting and dismounting all these tires to do the test fit if someone has the answer. My car is stock height.
Thanks in advance Dan

255/35-18 will fit on the wheels, but they will not fit on the car without rolling/pulling the rear fenders.

I fit 255 wide with +48 offset on my 04 STi. Rear fenders needed a SLIGHT roll. Stock STi suspension or harder required though (lowering springs and stock WRX struts won't cut it) along with about a degree of negative camber (shouldn't require any parts). Mine are 17" rims instead of 18" rims but the dimmensions are almost identical.

I appreciate everyone's input. I guess I'll mount them and do the necessary fender massaging, then throw it up on the rack to check the camber.
Thanks again Dan |

Just wanted to give the results of the final test fit.
I have installed a set of 18x8 5x100 45mm offset Konig Lace wheels mounted to 255/35r18 Nankang tires. The rear fitment was perfect, about and inch from the strut and plenty of room to the top of the fender due to being stock height. The front fitment fit the same to the strut, but with the wheel locked all the way right or left there was about .75" from the closest point which was the inner part of the fender. The pictures will tell best. ![]() |
