06 WRX CEL and flashing cruise control light.
So I was driving from Dallas to Austin with the cruise control on. I sped up to pass some one and mid pass the car kinda jerked and the CEL came on and the cruise control light started flashing. So I instantly let off the gas and pulled over to check it out. Car was still running fine and a quick look under the hood I couldnt find anything major. So I slowly made my way to a local mechanic. He pulled the codes (I managed to get a quick glance at the computer and I think the code was P0244) and said something along the lines of a turbo solenoid (his english wasnt that great) and said the car should be safe to drive and to just do my best to keep it out of boost. after about 40 hours (many times of driving the car) the CEL turned off and my cruise control was working again . So I drove from austin to san antonio (where i live) and then the light randomly came on again the next day and my cruise control wouldnt work again. then after about another 12 hours the light was back off again. And everything was back to normal.
The car is a 06 WRX with 41,0xx miles on it. I was hoping if anyone could let me know what they think and if this would be covered under the power train warranty? Am I ok driving it around or should I not move it until I can get it over to the dealership? If it isnt covered under warranty what do you guys think im looking at cost wise to fix this?

Do you have mods done to the car? Exhaust..downpipe anything catless? Once you get a cel your cruise control stops working till the issues been solved

."P0244" - "Wastegate control solenoid valve malfunction (high input)"
P0244 - Turbo Solenoid Wastegate A Range/Performance mayb you overboosted, or have a faulty w/g, bcs. Last edited by The_ManCub; 07-08-2009 at 04:51 PM. |

I am having the same issue. My cruise light will is not blinking at all but my cruise is not working and I have a P0456 which is a small evap leak of .02 or smaller.

Yeah that makes sense I just unhooked the battery and let it sit and all is well.

If by "all is well" you mean "it's going to over-boost, cut fuel, and trigger another CEL the next time you floor it in cold weather" then yeah. Why is that "well?"
Y'all should talk to your tuners. If you're overboosting enough to hit fuel-cut, they haven't finished tuning your car. |

For 1 cruise was set I wasn't even in boost and cell came on and cruise light started to flash. My car is stock aside from exhaust and suspension. So yeah no tuning issue unless its jacked from the factory if there is something that is causing this problem for sure I would love to know so I can fix it, but seems like from all the post with same prob and different cel the cause is kind of in the air.

OK, well in that case, something is probably broken. The CEL means you need to have the codes read to find out what, and the flashing cruise control light is just three to annoy you into getting the codes read sooner, rather than later.
You said something about an evap code? Search this forum for the code number, and "evap," and if you can't find a thread that helps, start a new thread. And start by posting the code. |

If you can't tell us what the CEL codes are, we can't help.
The other folks in this thread were describing fuel-cut in WOT pulls, which usually means P0244, but there are about a hundred other things that cause the CEL to come on, and we can't guess. Well we could guess, but it would be a waste of time. Also, the flashing cruise control light only means that the CEL is on. |

I'm having an issue with an Evap readiness code on 2005 STi w/ a lot of mods. Is there a common failure-prone point to look at? (Yes, I did a search, not too much info on here)
