Default The worst luck in the world

Man, I must have been born under a bad sign. Heres the story.

Friday - I install my long anticipated C-West body kit, boy does it look sharp, i love it. Everyone turns to look at my car, I get nice comments all day long.

Sunday - I pull into a gas station to turn around, and there is a dip in the cement in their lot.... *scrape* just a little touch i think, no biggie... I get out and find my front spoiler smashed, little pieces are broken off and scattered around. Man, I waited 10 months for that kit, and I only got to enjoy it for 2 days.

Course insurance will cover it.... then they'll raise my rates to +55%, costing me in the end over $4000. I might be able to get it repaired, but it doesnt look promissing. Anyways, thats my bad news for the day. Talk to ya guys later.

ooooooOOOOOOOOOO

that sucks man... sorry to hear that. I think you should boycott that gas station for being unfriendly to new c-west kits.

well, i was gonna take nice pictures of it this morning to post for you guys, now i have damage pics to show people.

unfortunately, every part of the kit is fiberglass, except the front spoiler... so fixing it will be a pain in the ass if it can even be done.

Ill post the link to the damage pics in a few minutes ( i need to upload them)

kinda hard to see in the pics.
righthand side - brake duct busted right out
lefthand side - one small chunk missing, large crack running along and straight through underneath

Oouch! Sorry for rubbing it in. But I feel your pain. That would suck. It's like getting new rims only to curb it the next day!

Oh well, did you talk to your vendor? He might take pity on you and give you a good deal on just the lip If you don't ask, you don't get!

You might want to fuzzy out your license plate in the pictures, for privacy reasons.

It's his pic of his car. If he wants to fuzz them out, so be it. If he doesn't want to fuzz them out, his choice too.

If these pics were of cars other than his own, then I'd be concerned about privacy.

Not repairable....Sorry........The chunk is quite big...
Unless you mould another fibre glass peice on it, I think it's pretty much the same price as buying a brand new replica front Lip...

Seems a few people have had their lips shatter on them. *shrug*

You might want to search in dressup, I know I've read it before about this happening. Maybe they (those who've had their lips shatter) can give you some advice on what to do next.

problem with replacing = no canadian distributors for c-west

which means mucho mega shipping charges, my kit was $700US for shipping alone because of its size, not to mention i had to pay duty... im looking at 1600 bucks to replace just the front lip with those whipping rates. oi... ill figure something out.

Unhappy

Sorry to hear about and see that lip.. especially when u waited for that long and only got to enjoy it for 2 days.

I know, 'cuz once I got into this accident, got my car back one night after one month of waiting, then 13 hours later some b!tch in a hurry runs into my car through an intersection, continuing the damage in the same area. Talk about my bad luck at that time.

I know.. it sucks, but that pothole could've made things much more worse.. like dent your wheel or pop your tire or something..

I agree with Youth about writing back.. this is very unfortunate.. worth a shot..

ALL fiberglass is repairable Tim, as long as you keep most of the pieces that chunked off. (I've done glass work for almost 15 years...and you should see how much damage I'd do to my front spoiler on my tube frame 510 if you bounced off the track into the grass etc.)

But for what it's worth...it's a case of whether or not you want to pay the shop to repair it...or just buy another front lip.

There are new repair resins that can repair glass faster (2 part epoxies that mesh with mesh screen on the backside..and then you notch the front side and re-fill and sand down and reprime and paint. I've done this twice on my front lip on my black car already)

The other option is to use fiberglass...which you have to repair the backside first...then v-notch the front, and re-fill and blend/sand.

The 2nd option is to pick up a CWest copy front spoiler from either Primitive Racing. (they sell H.K. copies)

OR

I know there is a club member in town selling a complete copy kit (see back a week on the board for the post for it)

Possibly he may sell just the front spoiler to you. I went to purchase the kit thinking it was an original, but it was just a copy, so I didn't get it.

wow that is f'n crazy! yesterday i pulled into a sunoco and bottomed out and cracked my urethane griffin lip! then today i was in traffic driving home from the body shop after dropping off my lip and my tranny started making a funny noise. the next thing you know is that my trannie starts making the loudest clicking noise. now it wont go in gear! i think it is definetly blown! i never raced it and did nothing but bby my car. My friends actually tease me fpr driving my car so slow and easy! it is unbeilavable to me that this could happen to me scince i know so many people that drag and auto x every weekend and have had no problems and i baby my car and this happens! i actually called out of work today because i felt that if i left my house i might get struck by lightning!

So if u think u have bad luck try being me. here is a pic of my lip before the crack.

So what do u guys think of that?

The C- West front lip is crap I had mine about 3 days and hit it coming out of a parking lot and it shatered too. I decided to go with Primitives replica and its been perfect since Jan and I have hit it many time's and is still holding up great, much cheaper too and no wait.

More info on the Primitive stuff here.

Where are they located? I looked through their site but wasnt able to find out. That would be cool getting it replaced with a fiberglass instead of the cheap 'genuine' plastic :P

Wink Primitive Parts!

Tim should be receiving his genuine Primitive fiberglass fighter lip (at about 1/3 the cost) of a new Cwest unit any day now.

Primitive has several more lip spoiler sets still in stock as of 5/23/02 and many more on their way--due 6/20

Most customers have been very happy with the product. Good product at a fair price.
