If you read the article, they are getting rid of the codrivers to replace them with.......codrivers.

Except that now the right seat will be talking to the crowd instead of to the driver.

Just doesn't seem representative to the sport, and it doesn't seem all that fair to the co-drivers. I agree they are probably not needed for the Super Special Stages, but still.

And if anyone is going to comment, I want the other half of the Ken Block duo, Alex.

oh who cares... they're worthless. you shed 100+ lbs by getting rid of the glory hogging bastards. I'm pretty sure as dumb as ken block is, he can memorize a 12 turn sequence.

Doesn't matter anyway...in a couple of years it will no longer be x-games rally, it will be x-games gymkhana

The super special isn't very representative of the sport anyways.

Pretty much.

Didn't Chrissy just sit in the seat last year and not even read the notes to Tanner?

There is a heated debate over this on SpecialStage and I think that someone correctly pointed out that this isn't really a Rally racing event. It's more of a european RallyCross event where cars are driven without co-drivers around a "stadium-like" track.
The only similarities are cars and part of a name "rally" in rallycross.

I think that only 1st X-Games had multiple stages before they came in to the stadium but since Colin McRae was whooping everyone's butt at the end of the "normal" stages prior to stadium super special, the organizers took everyone's time and divided it by like factor of 7 or so, to get rid of the huge time differences.
Otherwise the SuperSpecial in LA would've been irrelevant to the results.

It's a silly race, yes. But it brings sponsorship and promotion so stop whining.

2006 was the only year with stages. After the stages in Gorman, Colin had a 0.5 second lead over Travis and me. This was reduced by dividing by 5, resulting in a 0.1 second lead. We won the stadium stage by 0.92 seconds, so the dividing of the scores did not affect the final result.

Best of luck to all the drivers this year. I don't have a problem with removing co-drivers; I don't think they're necessary or even desirable for a stadium event.

That sums it up for me. It's a fun event to watch for what it is.

In a couple years it'll be split into the superauto race, and the automotive big air competition...

I'm just thankful that I'll be able to watch some of my favorite drivers like tanner and ken on tv and not on the internet. Not true rally but its pure entertainment! Plus it helps promote subaru
