Heading towards 100k miles - things I should check/replace while I do timing belt
Like the title says really. I plan on doing my timing belt in the near future, and I'm curious what other things I should add to my list of things to replace or otherwise inspect/clean.
As I have it now it's these for certain:
cams + headwork
Tranny and diff have been done recently. I'm thinking about replacing all the idler pulleys too while I've got the belt off. Does the power steering fluid ever need to be changed/flushed? Is the water pump much of a concern on these cars to warrant a fresh one at 100k? Since I plan to have the heads off, are there certain headgaskets available that function better then stock, i.e. doesn't need the coolant conditioner(stopleak)? It would seem there should be something better out there.
I'd like to build up a parts list prior to the service so I can get everything ordered and on hand prior to any work. I've got no time frame at the moment. The car's around 90k now, but I'd like to have the work done within the next half year or so, at lest before the temps drop. My real concern is missing something and having to replace it later with more work then it would have now if I bundled it when I was doing everything else.

Since you'll have the radiator out, have it pressure tested, and check/replace the radiator hoses.
Everyone says do the oil seals on the cam shafts, but if you check them, and they're fine, I would leave it at that.
Definitely replace ALL of the pulleys. I had some knuckle-head do mine before, and he didn't order pulleys - just the belt (and over-charged me) and no more than 6 months later, one of the idlers blew up, and I had to do the whole thing again.
Be real careful with the bolts on the timing belt covers. They're kinda fragile. I learned from experience, and the a-hole that broke one when he was in there before me.

T belt tensioner is pretty pricey and needs to be replaced as well.
You're pulling the heads at the same time? Are you pulling the engine? May as well take care of the clutch and resurface the flywheel. And you'll need the gasket kit once the heads get opened.
