I'm going to have to start locking up my wheelers when camping out there. That sucks for those kids.

Recovered!

Quote:
Good news, we found them both out in Palmer, they had been spotted riding the gravel pit by Three Bears, so we all hauled *** out there, and did some asking around, and some teens by McDonald's said they knew this Mike LaVone kid, so they rolled over to his house, and one of them was just sitting in his garage, door wide open, after a talk to the parents, the kid led them to where the other bike was. Apparently they had been drinking out at Sutton, realized they didn't have a ride home, so they decided to steal the bikes. Real dumb excuse, I know. The two kids are only 15 or 16, and no, they didn't get beat down. There is some damage to the bikes, they stripped some of the plastics and tried painting them, looks like they got dropped a few times, but it looks like the parents are going to pay for all the damages. Not sure if they are gonna get in legal trouble yet, but the bikes are back, and the boys were so stoked.

Glad to hear the bikes were recovered. I would caution the owner against not pressing charges. If he lets them off the hook they are certain to do it again after this slap on the wrist. He is just leaving the problem for someone else to deal with. The parents had these bikes in their home and weren't asking where they came from, they are the true culprit of this crime.

As someone who has had a Superbike stolen from them in the past, let's just say they should be very, very thankful it wasn't my equipment that they snatched.

I plan to contact the father of the kids with the stolen bike and give him some....advice.
I know them from the MX track.

This same crap happened up at Fairbanks during a state race weekend a few years back. Some local young POS punks came through the pits late at night (2am) and took off with several mini bikes. Many of the kids whose bikes were stolen were in tight points battles in the championship. You want to talk about some long faces. WE were all literally gut punched over it. A kid was found riding one on a trail nearby the next day and was accosted. He turned over on his "crew". They had all ditched the bikes in the woods. One of the father's of the recovered bikes refused to press charges because he got the bike back. I was incredulous.

Guess what happened the next year!
