Default Engine break oil choice

So I'm reading that Rotella T 5w40 synthetic is highly regarded, but I'm also reading that going to synthetic early on is not ideal (less than ~10k miles that is).

Is non synthetic Rotella T 5w40 a good compromise for early oil changes? I've been running Castrol GTX 5w30 in my Honda for 180k miles and it doesn't burn a milliliter of oil on 7500 miles OCIs, but the turbo 2.5l is a different animal.

EDIT: Title should be "Engine break in oil choice"

Rotella non synthetic is 15w40. And that would be my oil of choice for break in.

After ~1500 miles I'd switch to Rotella T 5w40 or Amsoil SSO 0w30.

Switched to synthetic at 100 miles. Zero problems to date.

For summer, Shell Rotella-T 5w-40 synthetic. For winter, Schaeffer's 5w-30 synthetic.

I bought a used 1996 subaru impreza outback 2.2 about 4 years ago that had 121,000 miles or so and the good thing about this car is that the people who had owned it had kept records of everything that had been done to it since new and if I remember correctly they put Quaker State 10w30 synthetic after about 1200-1300 miles and right now it has just over 166,000 miles on it and runs good and basically doesn't burn any oil. They had always used fram air and oil filters, but after reading some things about fram, do you guys think I should go to something else for the filters????
