Default Painting emblem and debadging

sometime this week i plan on painting my badge. i want it to be blue, or pink. are there any words of advice before i screw something up?

would it be ok to use touch up paint for the badge?

i might also debadge the trunk too. but if i do that people might mistake my car for something else, like an MP3

Be very, very careful

Actually, I used a very fine straight blade screw driver and started to gently pry it off. I went to an auto store (the Napa one down the street from Subaru) and got a roll of double sticky tape, and a sheet of fine grit sand paper. sand off the factory paint, and then clean it. As for the paint, yes, I used the Subaru Touchup paint, that way it would be a really good match.

It took me all of an evening to do. If you want some double sticky, I still have quite a lot left, give me a call or email me or something, we could hook up and I give you some.

Hope that helps.

Another tip....put some masking tape over the screwdriver tip to prevent scratching the paint.

nope...use fine grit...take the grill off and use a heat gun or hair dryer on the back of the grill, before u start to pry the emblem off!

No, they won't show up. the fine grit will get rid of the paint and create a nice surface for the new paint to adhere to. besides, the front of the emblem is glossy

The other alternative (which I tried) is to use some goof off, I had some left over "goo gone" and spent an hour to get part of a dime sized area clean, well f-that.

The main part is to be gentle/careful removing the badge

Use goof-off and steel wool for the emblem and a heat gun for the badges.

When you come over Thursday, I'll do the debadging for you. I'll show you how to do the emblem. I think I have an extra for you to **** up on.
