Default Nitrous kit in full affect

Whats going on? Just got back from my first run with my ZEX kit, and well, its totally kicks f*** ass. I took my car down to the highway stayed around 30 MPH on the entrance ramp, and made sure I was above 3,000 RPM and floored it, for a brief pause (solenoid had to be activated) and then, ZOOOOOOOMMMM my car took off, big time RPMs climbed faster than ever before, gotta say I love it, Im so wired right now its un-believable, one thing I have to say is Im very tempted to try the 65 shot, but for now Im going to stick with the 55 till I find out more info on a higher shot.
If you guys are wondering I have no fuel mods at the moment, my mods are intake, under drive pulley, TCII, Borla header, Stromung stainless-steel midpipe, and exhaust, Im using NGK BKR7E for spark plugs (man those were hard to find) gapped at .30, and of course premium 93 gas, Amaco. Gauges are air/fuel, vacuum, and voltz. Still waiting on my fuel pressure. I wish I had my pocketlogger recording during the run, but tomorrowI wil. Sooner or later I'll get picks of the set up and, my car, I have no recent pictures of my car.

Have you gotten pocketlogger to work with your RS? I have been told that the subaru 2.5L engine/ECU is not truly OBDII compliant and have never been able to scan them (tried multiple cars) with anything but the Subaru scanner at the dealership.

Tec,

How are you? Just wondering, are you runnning an 80 Shot with no fuel mods or Retarding of timing?

I has a ZEX kit and I want to run a 75 shot. I first had it at 55 shot. Ran one bottle and then I put it to 65 shot w/ no timing advancement or anything. I wonder if I go to 75 Shot If I can do it with no timing or fuel mods. Is it possible?

I have no more fuel mods than what came with my nitrous kit! timing is stock and call me crazy! but i'm still running the stock champion plugs The engine is running so nice, the plugs burn so clean! Why change anything? I have a recipe from brian noshoes in miami (Highperformanceonline) that will raise pump gas to around 99 octane cheap! well since i'm a painting contractor my prices on rocket fuel are better than others I don't now much about the fuel system in the zex brain? how much fuel pressure it builds, compared to my NOS kit? but there are guys here in colorado that run 75+ shot on the zex. If i remenber right?? some one ran a 14.1 @ 6000 feet above sealevel?
I'm coming down to deerfield beach new week for ten days, we should meet up some time and rip??

Tec, ok I know your running an 80 shot by NOS, but this is with 99 octane? How long have you been running NOS on your car?
Thanks

I been squeezing for about 6 months! i have run over 100lb of nitrous in that time. the Tulene additive in my gas has just been recent, it's not needed, just a safty for detonation. I also am running a TC2 on my car! it works fine.

dont want to sound dumb but I really dont understand that whole above sea level thing, but would I have anything to worry about more if Im not above sea level? I live 15 miles from Chicago
I guess I should try the 65 shot, but I can only get ahold of 93 octane???

Ok, hopefully you guys can help me out. I am interested in the ZEX kit. I went to their website and saw the applications they had. They don't have one for Imprezas. Which kit do I need to buy from them? Also, about installation. I know a couple of people that have N2O on their cars (mainly Mustangs). Their injectors are drilled and mounted in their cold-air tubes. Where do the injectors get mounted on our cars? Do you have to drill into the intake manifold like some cars? How hard is it to install on our car? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kyle

impreziv - generally the same kits for the honda's or neons work on our cars, 5122 is the NOS number, i'm not positive about ZEX. just look for a 4 cyl with about our hp and displacement, the 1999 civic SI or neon R/T's are good examples.

Imprezive, the Zex kit you need is #82011, its the one for the hondas/acuras, its work perfectly well with our RS'. Yes you do have to drill a 1/4 hole into the intake, its a very small hole. Install I thought was very simple, not like oil change simple, but simple. I thought the hardest part was roughting the nitrous line from the bottle (trunk) to the engine, trying to keep it secure to the car was kinda hard, but I roughted the line on the driver side and what I did was put the line inside the sideskirts, theirs only about 5 inches of line you can see, and thats only if you look all the way under the car. I used zip ties to secure it to the car for part of the line that wasnt inside the sideskirt. Basically you mount the bottle in the truck, bolt it down, rought the nitrou line to the engine, find a place for the zex cotrol box, hook up the n20 line, mount the nozzle, hook up power to the box, ground it, hook up 1 wire to the TPS sensor (throttle posistion sensor) hook up the switch, supplu power to that and your done, sounds short but it did take my about 4 to 5 hours, I took my time to ensure everything was secure. I'll be glad to help you out some more.
DoctorNick I have the air/fuel guage hooked up to the 2nd 0s sensor, when I hit the n20 its was readin rich about 3 green LEDs, I think the 02 gauge is worth the money, it kinda helps to let know a little something, I feel its pretty acurate when Im crusing around its reading close to rich, and when I floor it, its reading green (rich)

you could install zex on your lawn mower! it's only two vaccum hoses and a nitrous line, you tune hp shot and bypass jets. NOS has diffrent kit's for bigger displacement. a import kit is not going to work on a pro stock dragster! or 5.0 mudstain. last i checked zex didn't have a kit for a funny car

I have a 65 shot on my rs and its awesome. 14.3 at 96 mph. Its totally safe, but keep that octane up in the gas.

Thats what Im worried about using the 65 sho. Do you guys think 93 octane is ok? I also heard not to use octane booster also, is this true? Foolio are you using any gauges?
Thanks

Altitude makes a diff because we lose 3% power per 1,000 elecation. A stock RS runs a 17.5 qtr mile at Bandimere speedway in Denver. WRX's & other turbo cars only lose 1%power per 1,000 feet and run low 15's there. We also have fewer problems with detonation up here.

QKsilverRS ran a 75 shot at Pueblo's PMI raceway with a [email protected] and running low on nitrous towards the end. Mods were AEM intake, APEXi N1 catback, N1 pullies, and Walbro high pressure hi flow fuel pump.

We sell ZEX just email [email protected]

Not personally, but the Honda guys LOVE them. they claim better (read: stronger) solenoids and higher flowing valves than NOS. You can usually find a better price on NX kits than NOS as well.

I was going to order one from Jegs but they ran out of stock. They were on clearance for 352.00.
