I'm on CORN YO!

Default whistle sound coming down from boost

I searched and can't find anything quite like I hear.

I just installed a list of parts last night

Grimmspeed phenolic spacers
APS 3" inlet
TGV deletes

I run the stock BPV

Everything went as planned until I took it for a test drive. When I get into boost (anythigng over 5lb) when I let off the throttle there is a whistle noise that kind of sounds like a whining cat. The more boost I push when I let off the throttle louder the sound. I get 19lb of vacuum at idle and can hit full boost of 17lb. The car seems to act fine but that sound is LOUD and does not sound natural.

Kink in the BPV hose that connects to the inlet?
Thanks

Ya its really loud. I run a ewg setup and it as loud as that. Besides I have driven/riden in lots of cars with an aps inlet and have never heard this noise.

Hard to know w/out hearing the noise... "Whistling" is sort of generic. Could you post a video to YouTube?

You don't have 19 psi of vacuum at idle, because it's impossible to have 19 psi of vacuum, unless you believe in anti-matter.

Maybe a bad BPV?

Maybe after installing the inlet you ripped the BPV hose and the whistle is air releasing from a tear???? Pretty hard to figure it out without hearing it..

i had a whistle once and it ended up being a hose not clamped down hard enough or at a weird angle.. could possibly just need to take apart and put back together

I have sort of the same thing happening now. I just installed a Perrin silicone inlet and when I let off the gas i get a "wind tunnel howling" noise that increases with speed. Only thing I can think of is I noticed my BPV return hose was semi-squished by the throttle body. I plan on fixing it later but maybe you are having the same thing?

Both of those sound about the same as what I am dealing with. I am going to take off my hose and see what's up.... I will check all hoses and see if they are clamped down properly.

i'm 90% sure its a boost/vac leak somewhere. check everything again.. start with the inlet.

Depends on where the leak is. A leak before the throttle body won't affect your idle vacuum.

ya ,fixed it today. I took off my TMIC and I could see the hose that goes from the BPV to the inlet was kinked. I took off my throtle body and took the hose completely off. Lubed it up with a bit of oil and slid it back on (all the way, because that was what was causing the kink) and took it for a spin. No more cat meeeeoooooowwwwwww!
