Default Strange question - cleaning out frame rails

My wife's '01 GT LTD has had a strange odor in it for the past few months. We took it in to our dealership a couple of times, but they were unable to find the source until recently.

Aparently some seaweed (driving on the beach) has gotten lodged in the frame rails and has been fermenting. Needless to say, this isn't covered under warranty.

On to my question: How would I go about cleaning out the frame rails?

Kinda odd? They didn't give you any ideas?? In my 98 and previous 91 a lot of the "splash" inside the fender finds it's way into the area behind the fender liners, low in the cavity in front of the front doors. Has to be periodically blasted out with high pressure water or dug out by hand. Is it possible he's referring to these areas??

The inner fender comes out after removing some various clips and fasteners. You might try directing a strong stream of high pressure water into the small gap between the liner and the fender first. May be able to push the liner in a little to open up the gap. Be ready to get WET!!! If you need to pull the liner it's best to remove the wheels, and remember it's always harder to put em back than to take em out!!

I concure, The inner fenders do come out easily. I had the d/s one out a few weeks ago to run some wire for an amp. That little crevis just behind the front wheel collects TONS of dirt! (Poor design if you ask me). Reinstallation isn't so simple though. It'll take some time, patients, a few skinned knuckles and plenty of choice words Definately take the wheels off first. (I don't think its possible without doing this.) Good luck and I hope the stench goes away!
