It really shows you how much a harness helps hold you in place.

Thanks for the input, though. I've only autocrossed this car about 5 times in the past year 1/2. I haven't quite got it nailed down yet. |

Throwing it around doesn't mean use more steering.
You should be able to use less steering and have the car rotate more. Work on upping the rear tire pressures a bit more. --kC |

The rears, eh? I didn't think about that.
I was running 45 front, 35 rear. My tires are starting to suck, however, because I ran an autocross a couple months ago with too low of pressure, and scrubbed the HELL out of the shoulders of the tires. They just don't grip the same anymore ![]() |

Try like 45-55 in the rear. Just don't forget to get back to street pressures before leaving. If you're wearing the shoulders out, you don't have enough air pressure. The reason I commented on your steering is because more steering input makes the tires roll over, especially with stockish camber. More turning at slow speeds puts the front tires on the sidewalls (ackerman). Less steering allows the tires to remain flatte in the turns. Increasing rear pressure allows the rear to come about a bit faster, requiring less steering... Which equals fast at the autox.
Your tires don't suck any less than they did months ago, you're just trying to be faster on them and exceeding their limits earlier. Slow down a bit more in the slow stuff, less steering, more rotation. Any instructor should be instilling this into you. Slow is fast. Last edited by KC; 07-22-2009 at 01:04 PM. |

I don't mind the criticism. I'll never get better if I'm never told I'm wrong.
