Default "Spring" or "Rattle" noise from clutch pedal

Whenever I take off at full throttle and run through the gears quickly, my clutch pedal seems to make a "springy/rattle" noise when I let out the clutch real fast.

*this noise seems to be coming from down around the pedal itself, not the tranny.

Anybody have this same problem? Anybody know what it is?

Pedal slap. Same might happen when you let off the brake pedal quickly. It's just slack in the assembly.

Speaking of (this is OT) but does the throttle on Subarus have any slack in the cable (like a honda does)?

I get the same thing and it is driving me crazy. It only happens about 3-4k when I depress the clutch sort of like a bolt loose or something if anyone knows what this is please tell me as I am going crazy. I took it to Subaru and though they could reproduce it they couldn't find it.

A while ago (right after I bought my car) I took my car in for a 60,000 mile service and a new clutch at Lou Fusz Subaru. As soon as I got the car I heard a clicking chirping noise from the clutch pedal...well actualy from the engine bay...but went away when I fully depressed my clutch. Also I noticed that I couldn't shift into second sometimes.

1. Took the car back to Subaru...said they couldn't reproduce the noise.
2. Took the car back to Subaru, the reproduced the nosie...claimed I had an aftermarket clutch installed (BS as they installed a stock subaru clutch). That they wouldn't touch it. Or I would have to pay them another 700
3. Took the car into a Subaru dealership while I was in Canada, they mechanice got in the car with me we went for a drive. He said that it was probably the throw bearing. However they wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole as it was a American car.
4. Took it back to Lou Fusz in Saint Louis, they still didn't believe that they had installed a Stock Subaru clutch.
5. Emailed SOA with a complaint
6. Glen (the manager of Lou Fusz subaru) called me and said they had reviewed their records and I was right it was a stock subaru clutch and I should come in and get it replace.
7. Took the car into Lou Fusz, the said that the problem was caused by an inflated diaphram. They replaced the whole clutch (so they claim)
8. Drove my car home, let it sit over night. Can't shift into second, the noise is back, also has a lower noise.
9. I'm going to contact them again today...see what they say.

The point of that is...well there isn't really a point besides it might be your throw bearing or it might be your diaphram thingie. If they decided it was something else after today I'll let you know.

Default clutch fork noise

Are you sure it's not the typical Subaru clutch fork noise?

Thats a good thought though, I don't think my problem is a clutch fork but it sounds like yours might be...then again I'm not a mechanic.

I know of two NESIC members who have had their clutches replaced under warranty for a similar noise.

PM either paultg or Turbo4me for more info.
